Disrespectful *******s!!!
Was out for a meal this evening and came back to find a nice dent on my side door!!
![]() Some people really have no respect for other peoples property!! It was a massive space with plenty of room and yet they still must have opened their door as wide as possible, and at a good force too!!! I'm soo peaved off!! I know it's nothing on a scale like pekwah1's misfortune, but the sheer ignorance and disrespect of people just gets to me!Unfortunately as it was the passengers side I didn't notice until I got home by which time the cars in the parking spaces had changed and there's no CCTV How hard do you reckon it'll be to fix it? More importantly how much? Anyone had any experience of getting dents like these done? Cheers, Colin ![]() ![]() |

I had a similar dent removed by Dentmaster from a VW Golf for £50. Luckily I saw the person do it and the VW dealership arranged for dentmaster to remove it! I think that Dentmaster call to dealerships regularly so you coud ring around.

Thats really annoys me. I have a next door neighbour who does things like that, she kicks her car door open!!!...Panged my Mini 3 times and also to my Dad's M3 when it was only 2 days old! Some folk don't care I mean its not like we've just been given these things. It really pains me to see things like this....this is one of the reasons my car hardly moves!
I know someone who always parks their car in the end space and parks so close that any close they would kerb their alloys....came out of a shop one day a month ago to see a woman in a people carrier with more than enough room kick her door right open (not my neighbour) and dent their car. Got back to the car pointed out the damage and the paint from her car and she just said 'So what' So after she had left they took their car key right along the side of her car. I wouldn't do this cause I believe in Karma and what goes around comes around but they were so annoyed that their pride and joy which they kept so well has been treated like crap by someone else who was just being lazy.......I think people like this should be strung up! Or they should have seperate car parks for people who care about their cars and others who don't! |

That will come out Vet, except maybe for the centre bit ,which looks like a crease.
The smart repair guy, may have to do a bit of paint repair on that section and then some sanding down and polishing out. About £65 worth down my way. I never really liked my Volvo 480 turbo, from a couple of months after buying it new, but I sold it without one single parking ding on it, as the side protection strips, even though colour coded, projected out from the side body panels by a good 35mm. What protection do the strips on modern cars give, if the have them. S-d All, but jobs for the boys I suppose. Last edited by Jack The Lad. : 6th April 2008 at 20:38. |

I find that door protectors are only good if the car next to you is actually a normal car and not a 4x4...they have doors which are higher and tend to catch right on the curve of the door

It's the throw away society we live in now.
No one gives a s--- about other folks property. Bring back "The sounds Of The 60's and 70's", when I could leave my scooter, with all its chrome side panels, half a dozen fog lights etc and it would be never damaged. |

I've had similar dents removed at a local dent centre including one crease in the Jag i had right through the line on the front wing, cost £40 and the guy did it in 2 minutes it was so good I could not find where the dent had been even under close inspection. i was very happy with the cost considering what a wing repair would have been.
I'm still on with getting my hit and run sorted so know what it feels like you have my sympathy, I hope you get it sorted without too much cost. As Angie says Karma will hopefully come into this 'may they meet another driver with a similar attitude hopefully a monster truck or tank' ![]() Last edited by copland : 6th April 2008 at 22:13. |

Oh well, sh*t happens all the time, alas, sometimes one can't even prevent it, but what really makes me mad is that most people just drive away and leave the "victim" with the damage.
Attached you will find an animation to brighten things up a bit ![]() It is in swf format compressed in a zip file - extract and drag-and-drop into Internet Explorer (or another shockwave flash capable prog.) Last edited by civicfan : 6th April 2008 at 22:23. |

I'm sorry mate thats a reals barsteward. I know what everyones saying, my dad had his brand new range rover about three days for some old cow opened her door into the side of it (while he was still in it!!!!!!), she did it hard enough to rock the car, I mean having the wind catch it is sometimes unnavoidable, and of course accidents happen, but this wasn't an accident (yours or ours), why don't people look after other peoples property.
This is the very reason, I do my shopping late at night and us M&B spaces if there is a few empty, lots more room, and generally you don't get any problems (also less brats hurtling round the shop late at night unless their trying to buy their booze Hopefully it'll come out, Tom |

Vet, take your car down to your local dealer and ask one of the sales guys who they use to prep their used cars, they will have a mobile dent guy that specialises in this sort of thing, it doesnt look to deep or sharp so i'd have thought that they should be able to get it out no probs. Been doing this job over 10 years now and am constantly amazed at what these guys can repair. I had a door dent on my Type S GT from someone opening their car whilst on my forecourt, it took our dent guy all of 10 minutes to repair and you'd never notice there was ever a mark there.

I've used Dent Devils to great effect in the past.
Last time I called them was to sort out a dent on the crease line just behind the driver's door on my S2000. A white Clio was parked right next to my lovely motor and when I came back the Clio had disappeared but had left a dent and a chunk of white paint. No way they could have done it by accident. Was a dent, rather than a little ****. The guy from Dent Devil drove all the way to see my car. Unfortunately the dent was a bodyshop job (which cost over £200 to sort). He didn't charge me anything for the advice. As mentioned above, totally amazed by what these guys can remove with bent screwdrivers and an old drain pipe. |

I think leaving a bigger gap between the car next to you can be worse than parking too close,,,,,,,,reason being, bigger gap, more door swing by careless driver = more damage,,,,smaller gap less door travel = less damage.
I know this is not always the case but this is how it has happened to me. |

Hey!
Thanks for all the replies and advice! I called into a local Honda dealer today and they had a look at it! They have a guy that comes in every 2 weeks that could easily take the dent out but the paint damage is another matter. Its right down to the metal so it's looking like the whole door will have to be resprayed for that, with it being metalic silver touching it in apparently wouldn't work very well! It's certainly turing out to have been a very expensive meal From now on, parallell parking only me thinks! |
