Is it the colour, me or what?
In September 2007, I purchased a new NHB ES i-shift after having vowed I would never buy a black car.
On 18th February this year, I parked the Civic outside a house in Preston. It wasn't causing any obstruction, just minding it's own business parked properly on a residential road, unattended, when an elderly lady reversed from her drive and collided with the front of my Civic. The elderly lady was accompanied by two grandchildren, it being half term. Result - new front bumper and front nearside wheel arch trim. On 9th April I parked the newly repaired Civic on a residential road in a part of Chorley. Again parked quite properly, unattended, not causing any obstruction, when another elderly lady, reversed out of her daughter-in-laws drive at a fair rate of knots in a Jaguar Sovereign, reversing twenty two yards before colliding with the rear of my Civic. This lady had called to collect her grandaughter, it being Easter holidays. Result - new rear bumper and rear grille (and maybe reinforcement bar) - Being repaired next Monday. Both ladies were surprised they had come into contact with my parked car - perhaps NHB makes the Civic invisible! Both claimed they 'had not seen my parked car' and were unaware of its presence. Both instances occurred in full daylight, bright sunny days! It is only my sense of humour and love of G & T's which has kept me sane. Please be aware of elderly women drivers with grandchildren on board..... Perhaps it is good that we have plastic bumpers front and rear. As you probably know, they come pre-painted from Honda UK. That's the only good news apart from saying both ladies admitted liability and my insurance is unscathed. Please do not laugh...... Last edited by Doubtingthomas; 17th April 2008 at 22:16. There must be something very wrong with the NHB civic's. Your post reminded me of another post here: Has my Civic got a cloaking device
Try to drive by some windows and see if there's a reflection of the car in the glass. Just to be sure... |

Thank you nico651 and alastair b. I have had Silver and Milano previously, thought NHB would be a change (and challenge). Perhaps it is the Meguiars polish I apply........

I would recommend a Tangerine car. This stands out on a grey road and grand children will quickly notice it. Black is very difficult for anyone to see unless in a green field.

That won't help at all.
I have a silver Civic and a woman reversed in to me while we were both parked in a line of cars outside the railway station. Says she did not see me, probably because she did not look. New Bumper, Grill, Cross member, etc. She admitted liability. Ian |

I think there is a pattern starting to appear. The Words 'Silver', 'Civic' and 'Hit Me' keep occuring. Is silver a similar colour to the road and pavements?

Have you thought that the car may be sooooo shiny that it reflects its surroundings too well, and all the old biddies can see is a reflection of the clear road leading towards your car?
May be worth letting it get dirty for a wee while and see if the aggro stops! |
