I'm glad my civic doesn't spend any time in Ireland!!!

Looks like a nice car - good luck getting it back though as you say it's unlikely. I had someone walk into my house and take the keys for my old car and that was found the next day still in one piece though...

Thats shocking! Hope it is recovered, you never know it may just turn up. Think Vet now needs to keep an eye on his too if they are targeting the colour coded Type S. You do wonder what it is that makes them take it

What body shop did you use to have the car colour coded? Just I noticed you only had it done the 29th/30th and its been nicked which would suggest to me that someone from there had given someone your details! Just seems a coincidence that you get it colour coded a day or two earlier and then it gets nicked!

Gutted!

I'm really sorry to hear this! Especially after you just got it colour coded earlier in the week, that's really unlucky!!
I hope they catch whoever did it, and I'm sure if the cops need any punishment ideas we could come up with a fair few on here!
I'm over in Scotland at the moment but I'll be heading back on Wednesday and I'll be sure to keep a look out for it! It's a pretty distinctive Type-S so it should be easy to spot!

Angie I think the ******s that steal these cars are too thick to realise what is a Type-R and what isn't. I'm sure some have gotten a right old shock when they break into what they think is a Type-R and it turns out to be the diesel!

Vet you have said what I was thinking but didn't want to offend, thats why I said you never know it may turn up.....because I was thinking that they thought it was a Type R and when they realise that its not they will most likely Dump it!

From previous threads and I have also commented on this before, it doesn't really matter how safe you think your keys are as these guys are turning to violence against the owners in their own homes in the middle of the night in order to get the keys off them.

This country, well goverment is too soft on these folk and we would do well to do as they do in the Eastern World by cutting off hands etc, but you know what they goverment would then pay them incapacity benefit (which they probably already are doing)

The shop I got the work in was in a different city and I cant see how they would have known where the car was, it is strange though. The police have just told me that because there is no obvious sign of entry to the property the insurance company may not pay out. Need to speak to them tomorrow but I know what insurance companies are like. Any reason not to pay and they will use it, I felt safe knowing the car is full comp but not so anymore...

How did they break in? If a door or window was open then that is probably a big get out for the insurance company.

I'm guessing the car was parked at your home address and the workshop you took it to would have your address details as you probably gave them to them when you booked it in.

Jings the guys have probably been that quite so haven't caused any visable damage so you get penalised. Thats s**t!

hm id rather leave the keys in a very obvious place.
if they have the balls to get in and want the car that bad they will get the keys.
i would rather they get them and feck off as quickly as possible instead of coming upstairs and waking my family up with a gun to their head.

No open windows, house was locked up so its a mystery. Thats whats confusing me the most. The body shop had no details for the car apart from my mobile and it wasnt a company or anything, just a local guy did the work, no way he would have known where it was. If he had he would have got the key copied so no reason to nick my keys.

My bet is the car wont show up and if it does it will be a burnt out shell in west belfast

Eh and how would he get a new key and the transponder code? Your key is needed to by pass the immobiliser and just having a key cut couldn't start the car as you MUST have a transponder for that car which deactivates the immobiliser and as the car has an alarm, they need something to get round that too!

Thats why so many cars are stolen with the keys nowadays
