To answer your question. Tints look good, but the glass that the vehicle is supplied with is at the legal limit when it leaves the factory. You will be taking a risk if you decide to tint it even more. If they stop you the Police will give you a vehicle defect form, a fine and or rip the film off there and then.
Any glass in front of the "B" pillars cannot be tinted anymore than it already is.
The choice is yours!!

You must have got lucky then. Maybe Yorkshire police aren't as strict as Essex Police. If they say it's ok then go for it!!
Go for a light smoke on the front, it's less likely to be picked up if you are stopped.

not lucky.
the law states that the front windows must allow 70% of light through them.

any proper tinting place will check the % before and after to make sure your tints are legal.

As I said earlier, most manufacturers who fit tinted glass to their vehicles supply them almost on the limit anyway from the factory. If you look at any new vehicle where "Privacy Glass" is an option then it is only legal to fit it behind the "B" pillar of the vehicle. Anything behind the drivers door can pretty much be as dark as you want.

The police will not rip anything off your car - as you could accuse them of damage. What they will do is get you to remove it there and then or the car gets towed - either way you still could get a fine and/or points

Is it not a dye that's actually in the glass from factory?
i do agree that the combined effect of the "factory" tint and the aftermarket tint must not allow less than 70% light through but we don't know how much the Honda "factory" tints allow through on its own.

Anyway why dont they also ban wearing sunglasses whilst driving?

Rubbish laws ...........

The reason behind this front windows allowing 75% of light through is 2 fold :-

1) so the driver can see out at night
2) so other road users can see the driver of the tinted car - ie "has he seen me" scenario - you don't need to see the whites of the eyes but a head movement usually does it for me

The Window tinting Regulation was amended from 1st January 2004.This Regulation amendment now clearly rules out any tinted films being applied to driver windows (Front doors).

The Regulation states 70% of visible light must pass through the drivers windows including any other substrate fitted to the glass. Many people misunderstand the regulation and presume that 70% allows a 30% tint - It doesn't! Glass does not let in 100% of light. Clear glass only allows approximately 86% of light to pass & the slight tint of standard manufactured glass varies from the 70% maximum limit up to approx 80% of light passing through, thus any film being applied to these windows will drop the light transmissions to below the regulation limit.

If your front windows are tinted to any level you do risk being stopped by either Traffic Police or VOSA (Vehicle & Operator Services Agency) they have light meters to test the light that passes through your glass. If you have a subtle tint fitted then you should just be asked for it to be removed, if you have dark front door windows you could be told you cant drive your car any further and face a fine and points on your licence!

i was told that the rear lower screen cannot be tinted due to the fact that its plastic so from the outside it looks ok but through the rear view mirror there is a big difference between the top and bottom

I think what people are advising is they haven't tinted the front windows as they are already at the maximum tint level
