Prices for Windscreens Please read!!

To cut a long story short I cracked my windscreen not long after collecting my new GT in september. 1st thing I did was call my insurance company who said I didn't have cove *******, wish they'd told be this befreo I paid upfront for my years cover. Anyway autoglass wanted £650 to replace it at the roadside and near enought the same if I took it to them.

So I sopped around and found a local firm who replaced it for £220 and to be honest i'm sure it fits better than the original. Rain sensor still works all the time.

So anyone need a new screen shop around and don't get ripped off. Anyone in Aberdeen or Inverness can get a cheap screen from the same company I got mine if you need a contact name the drop me a pm.

Strange how you don't have glass cover with your insurance company.

Which company is it

Actually the onus is on you to read the cover offered before you purchase.

I'm with bell, on something called a flexbell policy. I told them I didn't need European cover so they told me i'd get a flex bell policy and i'd save me money. They never told me I wasn't getting windscreen cover but you can't argue with these people. Needless to say I won't be with them next year.

Was gonna say they seemed a good deal and was gonna give them a try, but the difference in cover between the two policies (and what options you tick with them on their site!) is quite marked.

i was looking at the flexicover too Tom

the legal fees - that could be covered by another private company free

drive other car - not needed for me anyway

breakdown - not needed if you have RAC e.t.c

personal injury cover - again, a private company could deal with this

probably only take the windscreen cover and courtesy car - still knocks off a good £120 off my quote

I did it online got the full price then called them up. The woman on the phone said "We'll take off legal cover, breakdown and european cover and that will take your policy down to £xxx"

Never once did she say we're taken off windscreen cover!!!!

just being realistic and thinking how them barstewards would think
