damage to my baby

I was stationary in traffic last night when a huge van squeezing left behind me scrapped and creased my bumper. I had left a big enough gap that other cars and vans could pass through but this idiot misjudged. Is the lesson not to leave gaps and hold up the flow of traffic?

Nope, because ppl who hold up traffic by blocking lanes or junctions should be lined up and shot.

Sorry to hear about your car. Is he coughing up or going through insurance ?

Hope it gets sorted soon

Really Really sorry to hear about your car. Seems sometimes being kind is not the best thing.

I hope you get it sorted asap.

Thank you. I've booked it in for repairs but as I have only had car two weeks feel very peeved!

And why did it never happen in my old car? It was ancient and battered and no one ever came close to it.

It's always the way isn't it

The other classic is when you put the car up for sale or part-ex, it then seems to attract every arse on the road and you spend your remaining time with it avoiding near misses

Luckily huge van that hit me was owned by a garage and they are during repair free of charge. Do you think it would be cheeky if I asked them to fix a stone chip in drivers door as well?

What have you got to lose, I'm a great believer in - if you don't ask you don't get

Ask them, and mention the inconvenience of being without your car.

Angry Me too !!!

10 days ago - here in Norway (Stavanger) - a veritable ****** failed to observe the giveway rule at a mini-roundabout. In fact, he never as much looked sideways (here - to the left) even once.

Fortunately (?) I saw him and almost managed to avoid him. Result, what looked like damage limited to the plastic at the right front corner, plus the headlamp washer (and the tow-bracket was pushing through the bumper). I got hit right between the lights, and both the headlight and foglight were in fact intact ! Car still totally driveable and safe.

However, on taking my now poor battered (6 month old) 1.8 i-VTEC to the local dealer (the next day), they informed me that several panels \ structural elements were 'marginally' bent (and they were) !

Cost ? - estimated NoK 25,000 - yes, £ 2,500. When the car cost NoK 300,000 - yes, £ 30,000 - new !

Luckily, the other driver 'copped for it', so the entire bill will be covered by my (or his) Insurance and my Insurance no-claims bonus and subsequent premiums won't be affected.

Now comes the really bad part. I took the car in for repair 3 days ago. The dealer covers Honda \ Citroen \ Hyundai. Guess what - the only available 'loaner' was a Hyundai Getz - ARRGGGHHHH !!!

I now only drive in the dark, or with a ski-mask and sunglasses on. Can't wait until next week, when "baby comes home again".

I hope that all those "who pass through this thread", realise that the pain - as intense as it was and is - both of seeing my 'palindrome' (think about it !) damaged and not being able to drive it for a week or so, was way surpassed by the sheer and absolute horror of having to drive a 'Getz' ... OH - F#¤&%ƤØ#€µ*Å@K !!!!!

Well, how do you think I feel. Here's my work car

What's worse, it's a gutless 1.3 diesel. It is a terrible engine! Apologies for the poor picture (cam phone) and the state of the thing. Not had a chance to wash 'it' all week.

We really are all very attached to our Civics!
It's going to be a nightmare come seeling time, no matter what you go to buy you're always going to compare it to the Civic and at the moment there definitly isn't much competition without going up in price!

Oh dear! Here in the UK whenever I've been bashed by another (their fault) I refuse the garage's 'loaner' and go hire a car to the same 'equal' standing. Garages get VERY good money for the little tin pot they supply when they're fixing yours.

Phil.

Thumbs up Baby came home !

All-righty-ho ...

Got my Civic back yesterday (8 days at the Honda dealer \ workshop) ... SO glad to hand back the f**king Hyundai Getz ! ...

Nice job - "can't see the join" at all - perfect colour match between the replaced body parts \ panels and the original ... and they even washed and waxed the whole exterior ! ...

One tiny 'niggle' - I had asked that the winter wheels \ tyres be replaced with my summer set (at my expense) while the garage had my car - and it wasn't done - this despite the 4 wheels (wrapped in bright yellow plastic) sitting in the back (bless 'magic seats' !) - and I couldn't wait ...

So, had the changeover done today - and WOW, so much better - I only had the car for some 10 days last year before the winter set were fitted and had begun to believe that the steering servo or whatever was faulty (pulling to left when accelerating hard and pulling to the right when the throttle was 'dropped') - of course, it was the soft compound winter tyres that were to blame, 'coupled' with the weight of my foot ! ...

So - lesson learned - use the winter set as little as possible in future ...

p.s. - got an email a couple of hours ago from my insurance company, confirming that the other driver \ insurance company had admitted 100% liability ... aahhhh ... all's well that ends well ...

I can top that, the Mrs thought it would be funny to accept a Smart car as a courtesy vehicle when our old car went in for body repairs

Picture a 6 foot 3 inch 20 stone bloke driving that thing around - I am reminded about it frequently at work as they still call me Mr. Incredible after seeing me unfolding myself out of the bloody thing - the buggers even got me to pose next to the thing for a photo!
