Stupid question about windscreen wipers.

How the hell do i get them off to change them lol. I can see that on the new blades the fittings are the same as my old car but the civic has some little plastic bits over them that i can't figure out how to get off. Help!! I can't be doing with smeary wipers any longer!!

TIA

Lisa

It says in the handbook that you should squeeze the sides and they should pull off but i couldn't get them off this way. Try wrapping the end of a screwdriver in kitchen roll and put it down the gap and gentle ease it off, should pop off quite easily this way.

Presumably you've had a go at cleaning the windscreen and wipers with a good dose of vinegar ?

I find the worse thing to cause smearing is the wash & wax solution that you wash the car with........

On the label - "Try to avoid contact with the windscreen" - yeah right !

Yeah we have. The wiper isn't actually making contact with the windscreen properly hence the smears. It's right in the drivers line of sight too lol.

Thansks for the replies! I'll give the kitchen roll and screwdriver idea a go as no amount of pulling is doing the job.

Oh you don't get that service down south lol. I didn't buy the car from my local dealer but I have the feeling i'd get that service from the dealer i did buy it from though. Shame they aren't a bit nearer (about and hour and a half drive away).
