Diesel Limiter cutting in
My question is, has this happend to anyone else and is it a normal function of the car. Incidently when I first got the car this did not happen and it seemed to have a lot more poke in first. This has only happend in the last few weeks. Bernie |

If the limiter is cutting in your are over revving it change up earlier. I find it better to get rolling in first then floor it in second.

I don't know what the led's are like in the diesel, but in my Type R when all of them are lit I am right at the top of the rev range, and to continue revving it would cause the limiter to activate.
Have a read of this : Rev Limiter If you think it is not working properly take it into your dealer and demonstrate it to them. Sounds to me like it is ok though Last edited by Dimplyred; 2nd July 2008 at 14:59. Reason: Added link |

Have had all the led's up in 1st,but I think anticipating the change up,so probably not holding on for the rev limiter to have an effect. I would have thought the car was functioning properly if holding on in a gear at max revs and the the car hesitates due to the limiter |

First gear is quite "short" on this car, so you should expect to quickly run out of revs in first. Fifth is very "tall" too compared with some other makes I've driven.
One day, with 6 gears to play around with, some designer somewhere might actually manage to get the gear ratio spacings optimised. As it is, we still seem to suffer from the sort of gearbox "gaps" we used to see with a "short" second in 1960s 4speed Fords........ |
