I ate in my car for the first time yesterday, regretted it afterwards, those Big Macs do leave quite a stain (thats the last time I pick up a Scottish hitchhiker).

Figured as I was in Kent for a couple of days I should really use the POI function, so went to Calais for a McD's

It would have been nice to have received some sort of amendment summary from Honda, stating how the spec had changed, as I was on their mailing list. Still I'm not worried as I can't think of too many reasons to have a locking glovebox, except perhaps to stave off the opportunist thief who isn't armed with a jemmy. I have to admit that to compensate me, I only discovered the little blue light between the map lights, this morning! Are there any more undiscovered features waiting for me I wonder? (The previous new discovery was the little pad for your left knee to rest on when your foot's on the footrest.)

Quite surprised you keep Chocolate Digestives in your glove comparment Charles. Crumbs, hope you keep it on cool - thought you'd be a Wurther's Original type of bloke? - or a Smith Kendon's.

I think your description is a little out there, pad suggests it is padded, it seems mine is just a piece of perforated vinyl over the plastic dash, it does help though.

....and the odd Toblerone to enable me to scrape the back window down.

They forgot to put a wiper on mine you know!

Well I might have exaggerated a bit for effect - it doesn't cushion my knee either, but it does give my calf something to rest against which relieves the boredom of a long motorway drive for a nanosecond or so.

My '02 Clio had locking glove box, but I never used it. If a theif breaks in a finds the box locked, it will only make them more determined to get in if it was worth locking away!

I tend to keep my sat-nav under the armrest if I do leave in the car, I hope anyone who breaks in doesn't think to look there!

Bungle, I'd make sure you remove all signs of the satnav (like a sucker if it has one) because this is the invitation, and the under-arm rest area is probably the only place they'll look!

I have a yellow duster in my arm rest, which I use to clean sucker marks of the screen.

I was parking up at the shops the other day, and was aware thet there was a car full of lads watching me remove my sat-nav, and clean the screen.

Where do you suggest I keep my Garmin when I leave the vehicle? In the boot? Glove box (I thought that would be the first place they'd look)? in the covered cup holder bit? Flappy storage hole in front of gear stick? Where!?!?!?!??!

bg, of that list I reckon the only place the crook won't look in his 10 seconds inside the car would be the under-floor bit in the boot. He's only really looking for a phone or a satnav, and most people keep them in the cabin hidden from direct view.

The trouble with in your pocket is you mite bang it or damage it when sit down or brush past things and if your pockets bulge then they know u got stuff to steal, list i would say is armrest glove box that center audio bit or in under boot bit . your gps must be easy to remove and quick if u even clean screen , my road angel navigotor is pain to hide so i just take unit and hide it, but as mine was hard wired into car even if i remove craddle u can still see a wire so its had to take its chance. Does any other company have the technogy to blacklist there units on gps conection ?Or offer sat nav inscuance ? Mite make theif think again about knicking one and find a diffent brand to steal?

New Garmin units have a "Garmin Lock" facility using a pin number.....needed to power up, if you forget it you can only unlock it at your registered home address making it difficult and "almost" useless if stolen....

I reallly should enable it on mine.....you also get a sticker to put on the car window but im not sure if that just says "ive got sat nav"...

This "should" be a deterent, but it has been the same feature on mobile phones for a while, i.e. you can have the phone disabled if you lose it, but it doesn't stop people nicking them.

My pal had his Tom Tom nicked whilst he was away for the just few minutes when he paid for his fuel.

Locking car seems sensible even for those few seconds.

Never thought of that, will in future, ta.

Anyway they would probably say "Any fuel nicked?", "No", - "Next"
