Fuel cap- Paint it?

With any luck, my car is going in to get the repairs done to the front end week after next.

I am toying with the idea of asking them to paint the filler cap NHB to match my car. I don't know if they'll agree, and at what price, but I am into the idea right now.

The reason is I just don't like the siver effect plasticy feel to it. Doesn't really shout quality at me, more Halfords boy racer accessories.
I love the design and shape, so was thinking of getting it colour coded.

I just wanted to guage opinion on this before I go any further into this.

I know many of you will like the existing silver finsh, that is not the issue, just what will it look like colour coded?

I am with you on this one. If it was an option on my NHB when delivered, I would have it painted. Go for it - get the plastic trim done at the same time ??? If they are 'mixing' the paint anyway, it might not be a huge amount extra.

Thought about getting the arches and stuff done, but when I saw the picture of the silver on in the gallery, I decided I did not like it. I also like the idea of them being easily replaced if one gets damaged. I think I will leave them as is.

I will call the body shop on monday and find out how much they want for it, it can't be that much, surely? I am guessing about £30, but won't be supprised if it nearer the ton!

I will let you guys know in case anyone is interested.

You could volunteer to take it off for them, that should save them some hassle factor ?

When I first saw the Civic in the flesh, as it were, the fuel filler cap was something I took an instant dislike to. I just thought it looked so cheap and plasticky that it let the rest of the car down.
Now, though, I don't care how it looks - I just wish it would open!!

One of the reasons I prefered silver was because of that it stands out far too much, it looks much better colour coded on black, not sure about some of the other colours though!

An alloy replacement that actually opens when you want to refuel would be perfect

Look smart if it was a shiny sliver it would have looked better but matt silver looks so cheap , the black looks good all depands on the price.

Spoken to the bodyshop, and they have advised me against it as they don'y think the paint would adhere to the cap well, and would chip or flake off very easily.
He siad it would like nice, but not for long!

That's put an end to that then.
