That impressed the shop!

Just bought a Sony 40' HDTV and a glass stand.
Shop; What car have you got?
Me: Civic
Shop: Hmmm that might not fit
Me: Let's see...
Raise magic seats - TV slides in easily
Open boot - TV stand straight in

Me: Delighted especially as the shop price matched an online price saving me > £200!
Face on the salesman's face: Priceless!

Yeah I was impressed when it swallowed my 40' Samsung. I bought it without considering whether or not it would fit in the car, it was an 'oh crap' moment but seats down and there was room to spare.

Estate cars are not needed when you've got a Civic. I was going to buy a Volvo V50, but the Civic has more room!

Flipin-eck bungle you must have a really big living room in order to fit that TV into it, the recommended viewing distance is 12 foot away

The distance between the sofa and TV is 11.5'.

I would like a new Panasonic 60' one but even I think that is a step too far.

Fortunately my daughter won't read this post or she'll answer back when I tell her to move away from the screen

Yup, 40" 720p is roughly 8ft.

More for Standard Definition, less for 1080i/p

Had similar reaction from local Sony shop when we bought our 40" flat screen HD. As said, look on the shop staff faces was priceless. They were convinced the car wouldn't be big enough and were offering to get the TV delivered......

Right.

I went to Currys and bought an American Fridge freezer, cooker, washing machine, tumble drier and 60 HDTV with home cinema system. I stuck them all in the boot. Then I went to Wickes and picked up the kitchen and bathroom units I'd ordered and stuck them on the back seats.

Then I went to the sports shop for some trainers, but couldn't get any because I had no room in the car.

American Fridge/Freezer in the back of a Civic?

Oh, and the only 60" my local Currys does is an LG, and not a particularly fantastic one at that

What I like more is that civic swallows 3 big suitcases, travel cot, stroller (ok, lightweight one), whole bunch of toys WITHOUT folding the seats
