Glad to hear youand your passengers are ok and the car did what it 's supposed to.
This is a bit late but you do know you can open the boot from the inside when there isn't any power. There's a little cover to pop off and behind it is an opening lever, it's shown in the manual somewhere.
Not that you'll be repeating this exercise, but handy for reference.

WOW!! Good to hear you all made it safe... I wish that such never happens to anyone again, but still, it is comforting to know that the Civic did its duty.. Considering the speed you mention, it is about 40-50% higher than the crash tests. And about exactly where they hit in the test...
I have believed, and thus still believe that Honda know what they are doing..

Good to see nothing bad happened in a serious accident. Makes me more confident driving my Civic.

The accident closed the road for a couple of hours, other guy had to be cut from his Nissan 4 x 4, I believe (not confirmed though) the other driver was dutch and his car left hand drive, he was taken to hospital but got out after over night stay.
Police were in attendance, not sure on liability as it happened so quick and I dont know what happened
Got new car 4-5 weeks ago, as it was 'total loss' and I was only registered owner.
Police report can take around 6 months to get and sort out.

Looks like the Civic did its duty well there, in older cars that could well have been a fatality, some things i see through work are shocking. Its really unbelievable how poorly built some older cars are. Glad to see you're not seriously hurt!

Really delighted you walked away from it. Shows how irrelevant that four versus five stars safety rating was, doesn't it?

Nah, if it were a 5*, it would only have needed a bit of t-cut and it would have been as good as new.

Wow some scary pictures, thank you for sharing them. Glad all involved are ok. Try not to 'break' your new civic in quite so hard lol.

Cheers
