Colour Coded Door Handles?

Has anyone colour coded the door handles on thier Civic?

My wife isn't too struck on the alloy door handle and keeps moaning that the door handle on her Jazz is colour coded and looks better.

I'm not fussed either way but I can't help but feel the paint would get damaged easily. You pull the Jazz handle so only really use your fingertips but from memory of the test drive I had in the Civic this handle is squeezed. It would be prime for ring damage IMO.

Also, how big a job is removing the outer door handle?

Paint the door handles??? You must be joking! People will pay extra to get these. Just be satisfied the rear doors are black in line with the trim!

Paint them, oh no!

I have enough trouble finding the rear ones, if the front ones were colour coded I'd never find how to get into the car!

Buy the car in alabaster silver and it's done for you.

That's real cool.

Paint the car to match the door handles!

Front or rear?

Its a novel idea, probably a pointless one though. Not for me. Was this not explored on a similar level with the fuel filler cap? Think the general feeling was it was best left untouched.

Hmmm.

Are the front handles painted silver or are they just a polished alloy? A laquered alloy perhaps?

Honda spent time and money designing a futuristic door handle that sets the Civic apart from all the other hum-drum cars on the road, and you want to paint them out

No. My wife fancies them being colour coded - I think they break up the side of the car. At the end of the day I prefer the silver and if I don't get them painted it won't happen as she wouldn't.

I am hoping to give her a practical reason for not having to consider painting them such as 'paint doesn't adhere too well to aluminium ... etc'.

One of the main reasons I am buying a new car is for the warranty and ultimately that is my get out.

In addition, if Stevie Wonder spent £3million on paint and took a year to paint a picture I doubt I'd want it on my wall. Fortunately in this case the door handles match the geometric theme of the rest of the car and do work.

Well, in that case...the paint doesn't adhere too well to aluminium and could chip off easily, plus, it will detract greatly from it's resale value.

Ps: I just had a thought, they also match the fuel cap and the alloy wheels.

Seriously, if it is a problem why not try masking around, priming and spraying with the body colour then spray clear laquer over the face of the lever. If it doesn't give a good result it's only a small area to take back. A body/paint shop will give you best advice.

I'll go with the resale value argument. My wife loves spending my money but is really tight when it comes to her own. As she's paying for half of the car I think I can convince her!

Thanks.
