Window smashed by vandals

Young vandals smashed my side window while parked outside my mother-in-laws house this evening. A neighbour seen them throwing stones at parked cars and then running off. The glass has scratched the paintwork on the door and jammed the door handle. I will probably phone Autoglass in the morning as I need to have it fixed for Monday morning. Does anyone know if Autoglass keep this in stock or does the glass need to be ordered through Honda ?

Hi Willie, I am so sorry to hear this has happened to you.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago when i parked my car at a services on the M6, and the s**ts nicked my laptop from the boot. Autlglass sorted it the next day, and at the time I had a brand new lexus, and it was no issue.

Hope the police find who did it.

Cheers
Alan

Thanks, hopefully then it will be sorted tomorrow!

The neighbour was able to tell me from which house they came from and I gave details to the police. They told me about two other similar incidents in the village all between 6 and 7 this evening.

The cars been around for a year now so Autoglass will probably have one in stock. Those kids need a good kick up the behind, and their parents too probably.
Hope you get it sorted ok.

Thats shocking, I went out for dinner earlier and when i returned to the car found the drivers side wing mirror had been folded in, was dreading to find out what else had been done. Fortunately nothing and all the other cars had had wing mirrors folded in also. I'd almost thank the culprits for being so thoughtful and considerate but it was parked against the pavement and they Didn't fold the roadside one for me. Still could be worse! I imagine autoglass would have a window for you.

Unfortunately they don't. I have just had word back from them to say the glass needs to be ordered in from the manufacturers. This will take a couple of days. Meantime they will fit a piece of perspex. At least I will be able to drive it.

Little B***ards!! Grrrr kids like that make me mad, sorry to hear it has scratched the paintwork too - as you may know scratched paintwork is my worst nightmare.

Hope they get in real trouble for that and you get your car sorted quickly.

Sorry to hear your problem and also surprised at the answer that it has to be ordered.. Just a simple piece of glass!
I wish you the best of luck...

as your insurance are paying for the glass, any damsge to the car will also be covered and this should not affect your no claims as the glass done the damage. read your note on glass coverage.

as for the kids need there fingers smashed with a lump hammer, then rub there faces in the broken glass, and then ask them if they want to break any more of your windows.

Damn sorry to hear this, hope you can get it sorted quickly. Little gits. Our local church had 4 windows smashed a couple of weeks ago, a couple of 12/13 yr old kids hanging round the community centre with iron bars another night, all their windows are now plastic so my Father was most concerned that they would target the church again simply because the community centre ones won't break.

I'm all for amputating their hands to stop them doing it but to be honest it's nearly always down to their parents - they shouldn't be letting the kids out at that age after 10pm at night, idiot parents want locking up and fining.

Your right! Thanks . I've just read my policy and my insurance will repair any scratching to the bodywork caused by the broken glass. Claims will not affect my no claim discount.

This is one area that perhaps Honda need to take the lead of Citroen and fit laminated side glass ?

Blimey thats a bit strong isn't it, amputate their hands lol

I can think of a lot worse crime that amputation would be good for, but kids breaking glass, not one of them

Yes, the full weight of the law should be used by telling them not to do it again. Then again, they must be bored, build them a youth centre.

They need to be hung drawn and quartered and then smacked on the back of the legs and told not to do it again
