1.8 vs Type R

Hi, I'm looking to buy a Honda Civic, my options are limited

Budget around 10000€

I could get a 2007 Type R with 150k+ km (one of my dream cars)

or

2010-2011 8th gen 1.8 Sport or Executive, maybe even a 9th gen. 50-120k km.

I would use the car as a daily driver (40-50km daily) with some weekend trips and long trips a few times a year.

The one thing I'm not sure about the Type R is ride comfort. Some roads in my country are not that great, lots of bumps, half-assed repairs are pretty common

I'm a young guy, have a job, no family yet, so this seems like a really good opportunity to buy a sporty car/hot hatch, maybe I won't get the same chance in a few years. But if it's more pain than worth to own one, I would be satisfied with the basic 1.8, maybe a Type S but I can't find those over here. Also, what are some differences between the 8th gen and 9th gen? Which one should I go for?

if you want the vetch bwahhhhh, then go for the type r, the type s i would get would be the type s gt, as its got more extras on it, and it may be 1.8 engine but still likes to be pushed through the rev range, and as far as comfort, bot are the same in stock form in my opinion,

I've owned both. Type r, but the 1.8 is still a decent car.

well this is my first * car) type r and its sweet. I wouldn't go for a Type S. Been in one and it feels gutless lol. Also if you notice, most people with a type S always try to turn it in to a type r :P

My friend did this and then sold it.

I've had the 2006 2.2l cdti, the 2008 type R GT and now the 2007 Type S GT, to be honest the type R was more fun and better looking but it's not as economic for the mileage I do now, I did like the CDTI but it doesn't have the same body, I'm happy with my Type S because it looks and handles well but also gives 42 MPG

Hehe but acceptable as you can't just go out there and buy a mugen as only 200 where made. also it has the same engine as the standard one but with a bit more tweaks. However the 1.8 is completely different car so it doesn't feel right

price difference between a type s and R isn't so much apart. But if your after having good mpg then I guess it's ok

I don't think it matters if people want to make their car look a little different whether it's the 1.4, the mugen or those in between.
I had a copper ask me once if my car was a genuine type r

Mines at 29.7mpg at the moment.

It was fairly standard in this pic, apart from the hekos. Oh, and the tints and the carbon fibre door handles.

Looks good man. What % tint have you got done?

What do you think of getting the whole car wrapped in carbon fibre?
