Clearance

This is a strange question, but bear with me.

Does anyone know if the exhaust on the diesel Civic is the same as the petrol.

The reason for asking is, I had a petrol Civic as a hire car, and was really impressed, so quite fancy one for my next car (currently have an Accord Diesel). However, when I tried to put it on my driveway, I discovered that part of the exhaust was catching, almost to the point of grounding on the driveway (entrance to drive goes up the public footpath, then down towards the house, so there's a slight peak on the drive).

The part of the exhaust that is catching is the silencer type of box, which is directly below the drivers door (hangs down lower than the sills). Don't know if anyone is able to compare between the 2, but if anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

hi tomcat, and welcome aboard

talk about starting off with a difficult one!

The exhausts are definately different at the very back - but that itsn't the part that is causing you a problem

I would imagine that as far as the front silencer they would be similar (unfortunately), but it is only a guess I'm afraid

Hi Tomcat

Just a Thought, but I would hazard a guess that the exhaust bore on the diesel will be a larger diameter to provide better gas flow, they tend to be fitted to turbo diesels.

I think a little note to Honda Uk should be able to sort that one.

Nothing negative there, so you're bound to get a reply!

Looks like a might need to use the angle grinder (on the driveway, not the car).

I can get the car onto the drive by reversing, but can't then put it in the garage, as I can't open the doors.

Hopefully, I can figure something out, as I was really impressed with the Civic, and it would be my 4th Honda (previous cars, Accord Type-R, CRV, Accord Tourer).
