Unhappy Replace dash with Type R parts???

Evening all, my 'first post' cherry is about to be 'popped'!

I have the age old problem with a scratched dash, something which my local dealer isn't going to sort out (i've been there many times with them).
They say write to Honda, which I still may do, but....

Has anyone thought about getting the dash replaced with the Type R parts, which don't look shiny and scratchable...?

Is this a DIY job if the parts can be purchased?

Anyone with a Type R out there, or who have seen one in the flesh, does the material look better for cleanability/non-scratchability??

Many thanks for all help/advice, i'm not going to to try for direct replacements, even through Honda, I just may try to fight for Type R parts with Honda CS.

Cheers all and hope you've had a good weekend, Ian

Red face

Pottsy, I have the EX, so no dial for adjusting headlight level, they are self leveling, which by my reakoning, means i'll have a huge hole in my dash.

Why do the Type R's come with the cheaper non self leveling headlights anyway??

Only other option I suppose is to buy the dash, and a switch for leveling headlights, but just cut the wires or not connect them??

Seems daft I know but only way to get this look and not have a huge hole!

I really don't want to replace like with like, I was so hoping this would be the solution..

What if a Type R owner orders Xenon lights that don't need adjustment, is this possible, which would mean two versions of Type R dash, as there is for 'normal' Type R owners??

Cheers!

Ham,

No UK Type R comes with HID lights, and it's not an option either. So you're either going to have to buy the switch or make a blank. Or use the switch to control something else....

No use if you have an EX though sadly.

Thanks guys, so Power Of Dreams, the cars are out there with HID's and therefore without the extra dial for adjusting lights?

I'm well annoyed, I thought the Type R's would come with HID's as standard, but have looked at Pics and Pottsy you are so right!

Anyone got a Type R with HID's????????

This dash prob is really affecting my enjoyment of the car, espec with summer on the way and brighter days!

Type-R doesn't come with HID's, not even as an option.

Ok, I may have to go for the dash buy the switch, and basically have it there as a 'fake', i'm not techy enough to hook it up to anything else....

Anyone know if this is a DIY fit??? I have had the bottom half of the dash off already to try and cure a rattle behind the starter button.....
