Unhappy stupid

this may sound stupid but last night I was getting in car and not knowingly stepped on the accelerator it must have hit the red because of the noise it gave me a fright . I thought at the time it was another car , then realised it was me the car has only done 200 miles could this have done any damage. The car was sitting idling 1.8 type s gt.

I doubt it has done any damage - that's what the rev limiter is for

The rev limiter will stop an engine speeding up so fast to the point of self-destruction. If you floored the throttle, the engine will scream and sound like "de-de-de-de-de-...."

It probably isn't good to do it regularly, but I doubt it would have damaged the engine, the 1.8 v-tec is an excellent engine.
If the engine had only just been started so was cold might be more serious than the fact it only has 200 miles on the clock. Oil is thick and gloopy when cold and won't lubricate the engine well, and can blow seals. But again, as a one off I imagine all is fine, just repeated abuse might upset it.
