I got the beta of Vista too.....now all I need is a test pc to install it on?! Don't want too have to clear down my own PC and start from scratch.
How are you finding it and what spec is the pc you're running it on? (sorry if this is slightly off topic...)

When you get the email, you should get a link like
http://www.civinfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5597#5597

Which of course works fine in XP etc. Where does it fail? If you paste the link into the browser, does it work? I have IE7 beta here (just for testing the forum) and it works fine in that, and I thought Vista Beta was using the same IE.

I suspect that this is Beta syndrome, there are about a trillion phpbb forums like this, so if Vista breaks it - I blame Vista! Does Vista support Firefox?

Just had a look - RSS also works fine in IE7:

What do you want to know - I'm involved in the development of Vista at the moment.

Basically, you'll need about a gig of memory, and a processor from the last couple of years to get it running.

If you want the aero/glass graphical features, you'll need a 3d graphics card capable of running DirectX 9c.

You can install Vista alongside your existing windows installation, by dual booting.

Let me know if you have any more Qs.

Vista has IE7, the latter beta builds have a later build than the IE7 public beta.

FF works great in Vista.

It's looking good in my opinion, certainly better than XP was at this stage.

We're looking for a Q1 2007 release, maybe earlier for the business editions.

Basegreen, how stable is the public beta? Should I risk dual booting it on my own pc do you think? I have a laptop that might be a better option....I don't use it as much and it would actually be more up to date...not sure about the memory on it tho.
If I do go for the dual boot option are you aware of any problems uninstalling it afterwards?

If you dual boot, all you need to to "uninstall" is to edit the win.ini file in the root of the main C: drive to remove mention of the vista OS. then delete the OS files from the HD (depending on how you've partitioned, or not as the case may be)

The latest PUBLIC beta is probably Beta2, rather than the CTP build doing the rounds on your favourite P2P method of choice. It's very stable, and well worth a look.

I had dual boot for a bit then bit the bullet and it's my only OS and I love it! I do have a kicka*se PC. Dual core 3.2G 2Gig Ram etc etc Glass is a thing of beauty

I think the problem I have is Office 2007 as links in Outlook seem to turning

Is that something to do with security? Maybe you have some settings which affect urls?

One little tip - make sure you change your mouse pointers to the new aero ones.. They're great :P

If you go into the mouse options, it's one of the mouse pointer sets in there. Which build are y ou using?

btw, although Aero/glass is really nice, there's some superb work going on in the Linux community too.

Check this out.

Shame.

You can download, and install the set here:

http://www.gurudesign.no/downloads/aero_cursors.zip

You can also run these pointers under Windows XP! Well worth a look, install instructions included in the zip.

BG.
