steering wheel arm near foot pedals

Hello,

Finally got a 2.2 civic. Boy the power in those diesels are truly fantastic!

Anyway, after a week of driving it, I had noticed that when I turn the steering wheel, I can "feel" the steering wheel arm/pole rotating and its brushing against my foot when I break/clutch. Had a look underneath and its just a silver pole/arm that rotates -- should there is a plastic covering over it to protect it?

Thanks

Pretty sure there should be a cover, but it's a bit dark outside to look under the dash.

It wouldn't be covered the whole way, such is normal in most cars. I suspect it may have something to do with your seat set up.

no cover for the shaft although the majority of it should be hidden

Steering column

Well sorry for getting back on topic but ive 'suffered' from the same problem, can feel the steering arm rubbing in my left shoe every now and then.

It's not that frequent but a little disconcerting, i'm a 6 foot guy, seat all the way back, dont wear huge 'pontoon' shoes or anything, but thats the way it goes.

At least my fuel flap has only failed to open just the once.

The shaft has rubbed my foot many times. Had this with other cars before too. Why not just cover the whole thing up?
