The Birds Love My Civic!!!

I came out this morning to see a small bird with a yellow breast (I'm not a twitcher so I don't know what it was) having a right go a my door mirror. On closer inspection I see that both mirrors are covered in marks and covered in poo. Also, there is lots of poo down my doors suggesting that this is a common occurence.
I haven't used my car for a few days as I have been taking advantage of the nice weather and cycling to work, so I didn't notice this before.

My wife suggests it is a very confused bird trying to mate itself. Could this be true

Anyway, mirrors are now folded so I guess I will have spoiled it's fun

Never saw anything like that before. Randy little thing!

I have noticed that pigeons and crows seem to fly very close to car while driving and have made me jump as it has looked like they are just about to smash into the car. I guess it must be the aerodynamics of the car sucking them in???

Birds pick the spiders out of the door mirrors it's really common to see them pecking away at them.

It's usually sparrows but that sounds like a grey wagtail

Could be right; we do have a lot of spiders where I live. There are streaks of the droppings all over the glass which suggests they have been having a good go

Sounds like it is a Blue Tit, and this a quite common thing it will be a male bird that is nesting nearby and when it see the reflection of itself thinks it is another male blue tit and is trying to chase it off.
Thats what I think anyway.

Dalboy is correct, it will have seen it's reflection and decided that it's another bird on its teritory and then attempted to frighten it away!

We had a Blackbird in one of the car park at work last year doing the same thing, made a terrible mess of peoples cars! I parked further away.

OK, well at least I know why; next question is how to get rid of it? It has also done the same to all my neighbours cars, and it also still doing mine with the mirrors folded up.

Not sure how you can stop it. The one we had at work last year, didn't stop until it had finished nesting for the year.
