Are These The Smallest Mudflaps In The World ?

Dealer finally got my rear mudflaps into stock, and fitted them on Friday. Comparing the pictures of 5 door Civics, the mudflaps (front & rear) for the Type S look much shorter, and as such, I haven't had the problems other members have had with the mudflaps catching on speed humps - However I do occasionally catch one of the flaps in front of the front wheels on one particular speed hump in my work car park - just need to slow down more!

Have a look at the picture below, to see just how short the rear mudflaps are.

Yep - pretty much the same at the front. When I was looking for pictures of the mudflaps for the 5 door, your car was one I looked at, and I can see why some people have had problems with them catching on speed humps.

The mudflaps are larger on the EX.

Brodick- Yes the Type S does have lower suspension, so that probably does explain the very short mudflaps - but I think from looking at various photos, that they are shorter by more than the ride height has been dropped ?

Czechplastic - Luckily didn't pay for them, as they were thrown in as part of the deal.

Don't get me wrong, I like what they look like - just don't think they will do a great deal.

a re-design perhaps... have there been reports of the trim breaking off due to speed bumps?

I think the design for the Type S is to prevent mud spraying up the lower side.

One of the guy's at our dealer (service dept) has refused to have mud-flaps fitted on his car as he's had to fix so many cars with broken trims where the flap has caught the bump. (As I've had twice myself).
One of my courtesy cars had flaps and the whole of the trim around the front wheel was loose.
So, as the car is back at Honda UK at the momment - I've just emailed them to replace the front flaps with these new short ones.

Rhodgreen,

I think the side skirts on the Type S are a different shape from those on the 5 door Civics, so unless the mudflaps for the 5 door have been redesigned, I'm not sure they would fit properly because the mudflap is sculpted to fit the profile of the skirts.
