Collecting a 2008 VTEC EX this week

53K miles, one owner, FHSH, Red. Has a pre-paid service due at 63K.

Car seems to have been well looked after, paint a bit chipped but that seems normal according to the experiences of other Civic owners. A combination of eco-friendly paint and nose angle, perhaps?

I can't help but notice that Honda offer a "Standard paintwork guarantee" of three years (according to autotrader). Anyone tried to claim on this?

The car is going to turn three at the end of this month, so I have a month of manufacturers warranty left and then 6 months of dealer warranty. I'd like to get as many of the 'niggles' which affect these Swindon-built Hondas dealt with as I can, while I have something to beat Honda and the dealer with.

Dealer (not a Honda dealer) mentioned that the battery had died on the forecourt, so am going to try to find out if the MICU has been replaced during any of the services and ask for it to be done ASAP if not.

Suspension seems fine. Took it on a badly maintained B road during the test drive and there were no rattles or klonks of any sort.
