I don't think JD power will contact the Manufacturers
I wonder if they get information from the DVLA ??

I also believe that the survey relates to cars manufactured and sold
in the early - mid part of 2006 but still cannot find the exact dates!!!

(TC give it up - the fact is the Majority of New Civic owners are over the moon which far out weighs the few unhappy customers whom I still feel sorry for)

But facts are facts - you cannot suggest anything wrong
has happened given all the major manufacturers are in the survey
and if they had all given JD power carefully selected people to survey
the results would have been superb for one and all

Well not quite - HUK will only know who is unhappy by those who have contacted them directly. There may be others who are unhappy but their opinions get stuck at the dealers.

From the letter wording, HUK give JDP the nod as to who their customers are. Wouldn't surprise me if HUK leave big complainers off the list.

Yes but if HUK do it then the other Motor Manufacturers would do the samething which would mean no bad results and all manufacturers all in first place

Sorry but this theory of TC's just doesn't follow through

Think we will have to agree to disagree on this one - neither of us know for sure how JD get the names of people to write to.

But a few people have mentioned on this forum that they have been invited to a meeting to discuss their thoughts on the civic and as I recall a few unhappy customers commented that they had never been invited along! Bit of a coincidence dont you think?

Yes I do believe that HUK sensor whose names they send out, lets face it they are not going to send any invites or surveys to me are they?

Im not saying its a fix just answered by a group of hand picked people.

You can all think disagree I really dont care to be honest, thats the way I feel and I am sticking to it.

Your are free to share your opinion TC
and I always appreciate your input
even though I think you are wrong cause if Honda do it then all manufacturers must do it - but this does not appear to be the case!!

Sorry, didn't make it clear enough. When I said:

"Well not quite - HUK will only know who is unhappy by those who have contacted them directly. There may be others who are unhappy but their opinions get stuck at the dealers."

...I was suggesting that there are still enough unhappy customers that HUK do not hear about because their grievance stops at the dealers. These people still receive their JDP surveys & so their dissatisfaction gets onto the survey.

All car manufacturers may do this to a greater or lesser degree but the number of dissatisfied customers who get JDP'd will still be somewhat proportional to the number of dissatisfied customers overall.

Not an exact science but still a possibility... it makes perfectly good sense. This is what CRM & business intelligence is all about - dealing with people & the data in a way that minimises the damage done when things go wrong.

I just think like Brodick says that they cant be censoring who gets the JD survey cause otherwise no manufacture would have a bad review when there is. Wouldnt surprise me if they get the info from the DVLA.

Seems like a good result, but some things make me wonder what the right result really is.

Small family car:

1 Prius 86,8% (1 overall)
2 Corolla 83,9% (8 overall)
3 Civic 83,4% (12 overall)

The result above is the one from the page “Small family car” and the table on this site.

The winners table with all the models says:

No Prius that should share the top spot with Lexus IS at CSI 86,8%, Civic is number 7 at CSI 84,3% and Corolla number 9 at CSI 83,9%.

So what is the CSI score for the Civic, 83,4% or 84,3%?

I guess someone could always write to JD and ask where they get their statistics from, they're bound to have a website and an email address somewhere.

I voted in the poll, no survey and no contact with HUK.

JD Power Survey 2007 - Introduction

11 May 2007

Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size. You'll buy a car because you like it. You like the looks, you like the interior and it suits your needs. However, six months down the line, your views may have changed.

The What Car?/JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey is the largest of its kind in the UK, with 18,187 car owners giving their views on 113 models from 33 car makers. Cars owners were asked to fill out a detailed questionnaire asking them what they liked about their vehicles and whether the service they got at their dealerships was up to scratch.

How it is scored
Eight categories are measured and they contribute to an overall customer satisfaction (CSI) percentage. The eight categories are: mechanical problems, interior problems, exterior problems, vehicle performance, vehicle interior, vehicle exterior, dealer service, and ownership costs.

The overall score is weighted in favour of quality and reliability, followed by vehicle appeal, dealer service and then ownership costs.

It Doesn't answer who and how selection is carried out, However! dividing the stats out, 18k divided by 33 car makers, = 551 avg. Not that many considerring how many cars are produced anually by the manufacturers.
PS: I have searched various sites trying to find selection source, NOTHING !!!

From what Civie says, 18,187 / 113 = 161 people surveyed for each car, not many really. I would think Civinfo is more accurate.

I think the definitive answer lies here:

JD Power Survey

Got my questionaire today from JD Power and my details were supplied by HUK.

I won't be filling it in for two reasons:

1. I only do something for nothing for people I know and like.

2. I wrote to Honda three years ago and despite many calls from me and assurances from them they still havn't acknowledged my letter (it wasn't a serious complaint just a few suggestions really about them being pro-active). It works both ways HUK!!

Oh and by the way I love the car although the build quality is not as good as my 2004 Civic Type S.

Mike.

PS. The envelope will be posted back with no contents!!!!!!!!!
