Talking Remote Control

Hello,

I watched fifth gear today, they had some cool things, like a £71K Lexus that parks itself

The thing I liked was a bit of kit called Multi Function Controller, by Connect 2 Car. It allows you to control your car from any bluetooth compatible device, eg mobile phone, PDA, Laptop etc.

The MFC allows you to operate anything electrical from your bluetooth device, eg engine start, windows up/down, mirrors in/out, headlights, radio, A/C etc.

I've managed to find a UK supplier online. £299 plus labour I assume. I was thinking it would be a cool feature for our spaceships.

Q1. Would installing it invalidate the warranty
Q2. Do you have to inform your car insurers

What does everyone think

It would almost certainly invalidate your warranty and your insurance company should be notified of any modification. Up to them to determine whether your insurance cost should be affected.

I'd also be wary that the more unscrupulous people in this world might bluetooth their way into your car.

Don't think there is too much worry about other people 'Bluetoothing' your spaceship away.

It seems as tho' lots of guys can't even make decent phone calls from their vehicles.
