Civic Type S GT roof rack

Hey Guys,

New to the forum... and hopefully soon to be civic owner.

I'm looking at a type s gt 3dr with the sun roof but I'm unsure as to if it will be suitable for me.

Firstly I would like to know if it is possible to fit a roof rack to it and if so how quickly.

Secondly I would like to know the maximum distance between the roof bars as my intention is stick a long board on it 9ft 6inch in length.

Any thoughts or opinions on this would be great.

Thanks
Mat

Personally I'd stick to the Honda as the last thing you want on soft paint is brackets.

Yep they aren't cheap but they do fit the GT.

A long board should be no problem.

I've been carrying a 7'6" board on mine although I had a paint problem it was down to faulty spraying at the factory and not any other causes, a very rare occurrence.

I believe from memory you can carry up to 30KGs on the standard rack.

BTW the Honda fittings are there, they're just under plastic roof trim strip - you're dealer will cut it out when fitting the rack and supply clip on covers for when its off.

I haven't carried one but you should be less than 30KGS so I can't see a problem.

My board was 7' 3". The only difference is going to be the overhangs.

This was my board on my previous car to give you some idea of size:

Weight was less than 8 Kgs.

Size: 7'3" x 22" 1/2" x 2" 7/8"

Yeah don't have pic of it on the Civic.

I had mine glassed heavy 8oz / 6oz instead of 6 / 4.

I doubt yours will weigh 30kgs but best contact your manufacturer to check.

There's also an optional foot pack to increase the carrying load for the rack, an extra £30 for a 50kgs (? not sure - check) limit, I think from memory.

I haven't got it but if worried you could take that option.
