Help! Front bumper removal

I am trying to remove my front bumper and have used the How To guide but I have got stuck.

First I removed the popper and the screw on each side to allow the removal of the arches. (popper is the green part in top left, and the screw is the nearest red circle). I then also removed a second screw next to the arches which I thought diconnected the entire bumper section from the car(furthest red circle).

Then I removed the wheel arch from the bumper by popping it out, this is easy.

Then I unscrewed the phillips screw that connects the bumper to the car behind the arch

Now I gently pulled the bumper out and the top part of the bumper has fully popped out, however the bottom part (the splitter) still seems to be connected to the car yet I thought I had removed all the necessary screws

Help!

there are quite a few lower screws and poppers mate and a couple of 12mm( i think ) bolts

Yeah thanks I have found them now, last thing I need to remove is 2 poppers in the middle of the bottom section.

Poppers are by far the hardest thing to remove!! How do you all do it?

The trick is to get a flat blade right into the core in one of the two slots on opposite sides of the popper.
Then wriggle gentle left/right until it unclicks.
If they are dirty or gunged up they are still sticky.
Squirt some wd40 over it before you start wil help with the gunged up ones.

Poppers are by far the hardest thing to remove!! How do you all do it?

Thin flat bladed screwdriver into the slot between the centre pin and the outer bit. Then just twist gently to lever the centre pin out.

Much easier to do in warm weather as the plastic isn't so brittle.

There's probably a special tool for removing them properly.....

Next problem :

I have removed my bumper but I have HID washer jets connected to my bumper, has anyone ever removed their bumper with HID washer jets and how do you disconnect/remove them?

Never took them off a civic but most other car's it's usually small hoseclips.
Remember to clamp your hoses with a pair of grips or the washer fluid will go everywhere.
Try to heat the hoses around the jets so they pull off easier and less chance of snapping them.

Did you get your other wee job done at the front Dave?

I havn't finished yet, I am really stumped by the headlight washer jets.

(I cut one out of my old bumper to put up pics)

The unit is to big to pass through the hole.

And to unscrew the unit, you have to manually pull the pump out and then undo 2 small screws with only about 5cms of space.

The pump is actually quite stiff and hard to hold out for prolonged periods of time, and the actual amount of space you would have to rescrew this together if you tried to fit it through a bumper would be about 5cm and I don't have a screwdriver that could do this.

Maybe I am missing a trick, I am going to take it to Honda and see if a technician can tell me what they would do. I am also open to any suggestions by you guys!

Hello mate, as you pull the front of the washer forward on the side of the washer there are two clips that if you use a small flat head screwdriver they will pop off, then when you have the bumper removed there are two screws that hold the washers on. (befor you remove the hoses fold them in too and use a washing peg to shop the losse of fluid). when you need too put it all back together the washer front just pushes back on.

Hello mate please see attached pic this is the clip i was talking about< the light blue line is where the small screwdriver goes but remember that there is one on the other side too. Then the front will pop of and alow you to remove them from the back of the removed bumper skin.

Hi, having an attempt at removing the front bumper today myself, had a bloody new young driver slam his brakes on at a junction in front of me in the middle of the road causing me to hit the back of him. admitedly it was probably 50/50 to blame, but insurers wouldnt see it that way.

Anyway a new fog, bumper and all the brackets for the headlight need repairing...... joys of motoring!

Unfortunately the insurance will see it as you not leaving a safe braking distance and blame you 100%

Its pretty much all bolt on though so some good news.
