Sadly missing from the 9G car...

Useful input - as just located this in my glove box and opened it!

There are pics on Google Images that show an 8G CTR dash, there's no "A/C Off" button which leads me to believe there is no A/C in some of them - i.e. the non-GT spec.

no idea if already mentioned but I just found out that the little sprung loaded flappy bit in the middle section slides forward creating two cup holders. (the bit in the tray between the ash tray and arm-rest)

That the seal between the rear window and lower plastic window is crap and I now have a light cluster full of water. Hopefully a load of SikaSeal I already had has sorted it. Centre light cluster didn't want to come out, seems like the whole outer plastic on the hatch has to come off.

Starting to wish I'd part exchanged this for my wifes new car and had her Golf.

Rear view mirror has day and night positions and you cant see anything when using night position at night.

Rob, the light cluster is stuck in place with some kind of plastic seal sheet thing, it's really sticky and stretches quite a bit. It's grey in colour. (it's too early to explain thing sensibly)
To get it out I pushed on the threads that I had taken the bolts off.
Then realised you have to loosen the 2 side clusters off or even take them out as they slightly overlap the middle one.

Make sure you check all the bolts are off in the middle as I missed one.

Once you get it moving I then closed the boot and worked it out from the outside.
The bulbs just twist out.

You certainly wouldnt be able to see anything with the mirror in dipped(night)position during the day, but at night it works perfectly well.
Following cars can be picked out by their headlights just the same as if the mirror was in its normal(day)position, with the exception that you cannot be blinded by the glare of badly adjusted or full beam headlights.

Having said that, you are not supposed to drive at night with the mirror constantly set in the dipped position - it is only meant for temporary use when experiencing unpleasant glare.

Manual dipping internal rear view mirrors have been a standard feature on cars for at least the past 25 years.
My earliest memory was on a 1985 Rover 213, with every subsequent car having either a manual or automatic dipping mirror. The latter being more recent though.

Thank you for that. Definitely got all the bolts as it was very loose, just wouldn't quite come free. Definitely NOT stuck in place, came free very easily. That's a worry.... Hopefully it will dry out itself, if not I'll try removing the side clusters. Might chuck my dehumidifier in the car for a few hours while all the trim is off.

OK, now this is hard to explain. There is a lip seal that seems to be stuck to the plastic window with the 'lip' on the glass. The lip on the glass was fine it seemed to have come unstuck from the plastic window leaving a gap. I filled this with sealant which worked perfectly... except when it dried it has shrunk slightly and pulled the lip away from the glass. After plenty more rain there doesn't appear to be any new water in the hatch, will just have to wait and see. If not will go mad with the sealant again. (I'ts black so not really noticeable)

Today i found out that the stock of spare blade fuses ive had for years are completely useless to me, because the fuses in my Civic(and presumably all modern cars)are of a much smaller size.

Thats just for the Sat Nag, needs to be a disk in there all the time for it to work. Thats where your update disk goes.

Yeeppp - a common source of confusion ! ...

p.s. - who knows that there is actually a "fuse" built into the [+] battery terminal (that isn't on the wiring diagram ! ...
