Anyone good at repair?

Was browsing Ebay and found a Civic needing a little TLC. Went to the sellers web site here:

http://amlinternational.co.uk/details.asp?CarID=838

Thought some of the more able (mechanically speaking) might be interested.

Am I missing something here? Why does'nt the owner/dealer/insurance co. get it repaired? On the face of it, the damage does not look too bad, it's certainly not a write off.

Quite a lot of damage though and expensive stuff to put right.
The front wheel has moved back quite a way so suspension and stuff required. the body might be bent so some re jigging required. Drivers Airbag has blown, (not sure about the passengers one) so that's not cheap to replace.
So unless you have a supply of cheap bits it would be a costly repair.

Anyone good at repair

Had an accident in my previous car (2001 Civic 1.6 Exec) in Jan. Exactly the same position only the wheel was not in line. Windscreen cracked. It would have cost over £8000 to repair so was a write off. Replacing air bags would have cost £500 each. The chassis can be out of line as when air bags come into use this is one of the disadvantages. Beware.

This has been on ebay at the higher price. Definately a costly repair. When you add £6,000 - £8,000 on to the asking price, it doesn't seem such a bargain.

Exclamation

Hi all,

This is my first post and want to say that this is a great forum, so thanks for the help and advice.

I actually ended up buying this car (on a whim) and have got most of the parts for it now. Its cost me £1700ish so far and now only need the drivers and passenger airbags.

The drivers airbag looks ok to replace and was quoted £160ish by Honda dealership. They also quoted me a similar price for the passenger airbag.

This is where im stuck.

How does the passenger airbag fit into the dash? Or do i need a whole dash too.

Any help on this would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Wish id thought of that earlier and taken some snaps because all the bodywork has now been done. Was very very light and prob wouldnt have made a good read anyway. Just needs respraying now.

But i'll take pics of the passenger airbag installation and post them here.

that about covers it.
the front body work hasn't been a too bad, few wee extras keep cropping up along the way but the thing thats bothering me most at the minute is getting the interior sorted.

Hey LouLou!

Have you spoken to any of the local dealers, they should be able to tell you exactly what you need.
