Went off the clock in my old type R, so probably about 165mph, was running just under 300bhp and was on an airfield, its was the 0-100 in about 13seconds that was the most fun, got a 2.2 sport now not really tried any high speed passes in it cause its slow but great MPG

Well, upto 180km/h it's really easy to drive it.
After 180km/h you do notice speed a bit more.
Over 190km/h you'll usually want to stick it in 5th gear, as 6th is starting to struggle a bit.
Basically, I find 160km/h as nice cruising speed.

Btw, for guys talking about high revs, here's pic from my old Civic (no it's not photoshop.. it's just different engine - VTI, with original cluster):

.. and best part is rev-limit is around 8200rpm, so needle goes out of range a bit.. looks really cool

The question shouldn't really be how fast have you been, more like at what speed do you start to cack your pants and not feel in TOTAL control of the car ? My view is that it doesn't matter how good a driver you are or think you are all other road users are idiots and should be treated as such.

I'll find out on Monday (YAY !) but I'm guessing that at 115+ on the speedo (on private land ) there'll start to be issues with hard braking/steering and faster than that will leave you open to serious poo if it hits the fan.

Previous car was a performance enhanced Subaru Sti. Only once exceeded 150 on the speedo but at 130 it handled and braked like a dream.

sure it all depends on the road surface, on one road before, i did about 145kmh and the front was hopping slightly over bumps that arent there at 120kmh. On another road I did 176kmh with no worries on that piece of tarmac.
And you are right, best way to drive safe is to treat others drivers as if they havent seen you until you are sure they have. They do the strangest things sometimes.
