Reversing sensors
Hi guys,
Anyone know a dealer that doesn't charge the earth for supplying and fitting reversing sensors ? My local garage in Slough not only has the worst service in history but want £570 to supply and fit them to my mums jazz. I also want a set fitted to my EX, and have seen a thread where Gordons done it for £250 inc VAT, trouble is thats a few hundred miles from me. Any suggestions closer to london would be great. Cheers |

those guys suck. my mum just bought a used honda and although the brakes seem to ba having problems, every time she takes it there they say its fine, think its time for a 3rd party report for that and shove it under their noses. |

There's a chinese guy in Slough who sells after-market ones, colour-coded for about 20 quid a set; a friend of mine had the Cisbo ones fitted to his Toyota Previa for about 50 quid and the install looks factory; have a look at
Parking Sensor Online - Parking sensors, reversing cameras, auto and see what you think-I am going to get a set for my NHB-a neighbour has the factory-fitted ones on his CTR so I can take precise measurements where the holes need to be drilled and hopefully access the rear of the bumper by popping the wheelarch liners off, there should be a grometted hole there somewhere too which will make that end of the install simple, and the wiring from the reversing lights is fairly accessible too. the sounder should fit in the luggage area somewhere- maybe behind the tool hatch or the compressor hatch in either side. If you fancy doing a parallel install I am in West Drayton so not too far from you. Regards Dave Last edited by Trabant Dave; 25th July 2011 at 16:41. |

The sensor locations (4 no.) are actually marked on the inside of the bumper ! ...
Just "drill'n'go" ... |

Thanks JDR, am hoping to do it with removing the bumper if it's possible, what do you think, can it be done just popping the arch liners off or would I be opening a big can of Xtra-strength Paino?

Have fitted a couple of sets and didn't need to remove the bumper. Used aftermarket ones made by dolphin. Auto express best buy. Think they were 50 quid and come in a variety of colours. No problems in a years use. Got them on eBay.

Hey Dave,
I'm all up for doing a joint install, it would be nice to see/hear a set of these. My previous civic had factory fitted ones which were awesome! Might be able to combine it with a reverse camera install |

Sounds good! Chinese Slough Guy does cameras too so will obtain/make the lead up and take a look at the cameras when I get the sensors; once I have got the dvd drive back will message you regarding when we can do the install.

sounds like a plan. do the sensors etc have to be mail ordered and can we collect ? If so I might pop down there and take a look. I work Sundays which is a pain, but i finish at 3 and its in Hayes. Otherwise Saturdays are good for me.

I used to work for Lexus and the parking sensor kits (retro fitted, rear sensors) are easy to fit and will work on any vehicle. Measure, mark the holes and drill holes into the right areas, pop down to slough honda to see where on the bumper they are fitted. Fit them yourself as there is a fitting kit inside. If your a bit handy and have time to spare have a go! recommend you give the body shop the sensors and your paint code.

If you buy from dolphin I think its £130 for colour coded sensors fitted at your home.
Plus lifetime warranty on parts. I bought mine 12 months ago from them and I am now in the process of having one replaced as its faulty. No complaints this far |

just watched the video on the dolphin sensors and I must say the buzzer sounds like a cheap casio watch, I guess thats one good thing about the Honda part, it sounds much better.
