Oil Level - Orange Dipstick

Just checked the oil level on my 1.8 for the first time. Does anyone else have a hard time reading the level on this plastic dipstick? The oil seems ultra clean and thin, and I've no idea where the level is...

...I'll just have to wait until the oil gets dirty

Yup, it's very hard to read the oil level from the dipstick when the oil is new.

Agreed, it is not the best dip stick, but look for where it is wet.

I really dislike that orange plastic dipstick. It's hard to read and it looks like it came right out of the Fisher Price catalog. Wish they had gone with a proper metal dipstick.

Yep, I have just pulled the dipstick out of my 4.5hp Honda lawnmower and the dipstick is nearly exactly the same! Plastic, with the hashed bit on it where you are supposed to be able see the oil. The lawnmower one was better though - very light grey plastic...
