My dealer was very helpful about price, part number etc...

I reckon that the law could support you if you sort to replace like for like.

But going for the 'R' version you need to be-friend the stealer I reckon.

Maybe the answer is buy, and fit yourself.

Then you could have future warranty problems if anything in that area went wrong.

Looks like a lose, lose, situation.

I havent and dont want mine replaced with the type R one as I dont like the look of it.

I agree. I feel it detracts from the space-age looks inside.

Its the sort of thing that may be an option in a couple of years time if the dash is looking really bad, but hopefully by then there may be an option to replace with a similar-looking but more hard-wearing version

I prefer it, it looks more expensive rather than shiney plastic and matches the upper tier of the dash and it is easy peasy to clean

I don't understand why he is re-fusing to help you

Go to a different dealer.

The best advice that I could possibly give you is as has been previously stated. Don't bother with an unhelpful dealer in a competitive, consumer-driven market. You should have no problems finding someone willing to help you. It would be much easier than aggrivating the one that you are with at the moment with petitions etc.
