Warranty question
As far as you guys are aware, does self fitting equipment in that car effect the warranty in any way?
I'm thinking about reversing sensors and the Connects2 unit, specifically, where the electrics will be played about with? |

I guess it depends on the dealer. If future problems are clearly not related to your own handywork it wouldn't have to matter too much. And a dealer that wants a happy customer might even go beyond that if problems might be related to your own work. There is no benefit for him to present you with a lecture about how you shouldn't mess with your car.
But when costs for replacing parts is involved after his help, it's obvious you have to carry that cost. He's gotta earn a living. That being said. If you take apart the engine block to bore it out to a 2,4L and fit a supercharger, I guess not a single dealer will be willing to help out under warranty when the idlle rpm is restless. The connects2 shouldn't present a problem. Parking sensors is a bit more extreme, but a good dealer will not punish you for foing that yourself next time you come in for some issue (which doesn't happen that often with our cars anyway). But should you happen to fry the battery after installing the sensors in reverse. You're gonna have to pay for that battery yourself. Last edited by THX1138; 17th June 2007 at 13:40. |

THX1138 is about right there
As long as your 'mods' are in no way related to your warranty problem, and your stealer is a good chap, I foresee no problems in doing those few mods. "Whenever I think that the world is moving too fast, I pop into the local Post Office!" Charles H. |

Thanks for the replies guys.
These parking sensors are becoming more trouble than they are worth! What with the insurance 'modification' issue and also the possible issues with the warranty, I think I might just leave them off! |
