Decreasing efficiency?
Is anyone experiencing a decrease in efficiency?
My car has done 1400kms. This is the first time that my tank efficiency figure, trip A, is higher(worse) than my counting since new, B trip efficiency figure. The trip A is at 350kms and the B trip at 1400kms. Ive also noticed or Im imagining it, that as the fuel gets closer to running out that the fuel efficieny figure statrs to get worse even though driving style and roads used havent changed.... No power loss, no oil used. Car is really loosening up now, every 100kms makes a difference. What do you think? |

I think that as the cars start to loosen up & we get used to them, we then start to drive them a little harder. I have noticed the same 'symtoms' with the fuel economy

My MPG is nowhere near the possible figures but again thats most likely down to me, I suspect the same could be true of your own findings.

Mine did improve after 10 000 Km ... Before it was a little bit erratic from one refuelling to another. It's very sensitive to "start and go"...

well, ive filled up again and driven normally, and figures were about 7.2 till tank reached below half way point, then fuel economy started to get worse. I noticed this before too, it gets worse as the fuel thats in the tank gets less......now it reads about 7.7????
but i just think now that the computer reader is inaccurate anyway,at the start of the tank, it read 21.5, 10 seconds later read 12.4,and eventually settled on a 7.x so whatever.... i reckon im gettin roughly 40mpg. Case closed. |

My 2.2 is easily exceeding my expectations ;46-48 mpg town(flowing) driving with a bit of open road thrown in;58-60 mpg mostly motorway at indicated 75-80 mph.
my previous Alfa 159 2.4jtdm was giving approx 31mpg town and 36-38 mpg motorway. The car, with its 200 bhp,was more lethargic The Civic really does give you the best of both worlds |
