Security Box

Has anyone fitted a secure box to their Civ for the purpose of storing valuables? My new GPS is worth a few more pennies than the last one and regardless of it's security code I don't want a smashed window.

I'm interested in either a fixed box or the sort that locks to a seat rail using a cable (so that I can use it in multiple vehicles)

Prices? Makes? Ease of fitment? Security? Size/Capacity? and without giving too much away possibly where you located yours?

Only ever seen these products in ads.

If there is one that fits the space where the spare wheel should be, then that would be good.

Doesnt help if they take the whole car though.

There was a write-up on such a box on the Auto Express site yesterday.

Should have bought an EX unless they take the whole car, or the dash your GPS is quite safe, and you don't have to have one of those suction things in the car.

Where do you propose to locate such a box? Surely under the boot flap would be impractical if you ever use the boot, and you would struggle to fasten it down. Just sitting in the footwell and you may as well put a neon sign on the car advertising it contains valuables, next thing you know its a missing car not just a GPS, they might actually think there is something more to nick in the box.

It's still safer to take the unit with you.

Halfords do one GPS size for twenty odd quid! It attaches by a lanyard that is supplied in the price.
