Services the type R today.

Hi guys!

Just finished servicing the type r myself through reading the how to section and some previous knowledge.

Bit that I changed took 4 hours bloody knackered now!
Front and rear discs changed
Front and rear pads
Engine flush and oil/filter change
Spark plugs
Pollen filter
Air filter

Good job mate, glad to see people tackling their own services. I wouldn't know where to start to be honest, and it would save me a bit cash!!

yeah I was like that at first and now its straight forward....
should give it a go my local garage wanted £80+ vat for the rear disks/pads installation.

Thats not bad at all (I think ). Honda wanted to take £485 for my service!!! Wow!!!

Servicing

Servicing on modern vehicles are mostly checks, there is not much to change or renew, apart from filters and oil.
I don't know how garages can justify their cost on servicing, anyone with access to a pit or a ramp could do most things themselves (I think) would be interested to know what other members think what could not be done by a DIYer.

Having all the relevant tools does make life much easier...I must of spent about £50 on tools which I can use to service my other cars!

Depending on the spark plugs should nt they be changed every 5 years?

I get my uncle to do everything for me, he is a master mechanic!

I just bring the parts and he does it for me... in exhchange my dad repairs all of his families laptops / computers when needed ha ha
