I understand where you are coming from (I have had similar thoughts myself for a low mileage per year car), but one of these will have slightly different running costs compared to say a Yaris though.

Of course, but anything more than tyres and brakes needing replacement then just break the car. Hopefully you'd get at least a year out of it.

It was obviously not a serious suggestion though

I had to drive a brand new 12 Plate 5 Door courtesy Automatic Vauxhall Corsa as my Company car was written off two weeks ago, (driver pulled out and didn't see me) Good points - smooth Auto change, quiet, very nice Sound system, comfortable seats - bad points, awful dash, bit cramped to get in and out of, other than that, it's an OK car, cheap and cheerful, it's gone back now, and now driving a 08 Plate VW polo, a much nicer, all round.
