need a run around for the wife sooner or later

im looking at a small automatic car for my wife, budget would be 1.5k thinking corsa, clio or yaris? she passed her driving test in a manual but insists she wants a auto as she allways stalls, this car just needs to drive about 7miles a day lol so thoughts please?

I've not been in an auto of any of those cars, however I can hands down recommend a yaris to you. My sister has one on an 03 plate and it's a cracking little car!
If possible, I'd try and get a test drive in them all to see how the auto boxes fair as some smaller cars' autoboxes can be a bit hesitant I've heard.
Good luck!

If i was you mate i'd keep your eyes peeled for a automatic mini - i think you can pick them up for around 3k - not within your budget i know, but nice reliable little auto's - my friends gf has one and she loves it

Ensure it's a petrol. Diesels with DPFs hate short journeys and will clog up unless given longer runs.

Given a choice of those three I would have to go for the Yaris.

My wife's having lessons at the moment and she wants a mk1 yaris, as said cheap to insure and run. There are plenty about so shop around for a decent spec.
I had on 06 plate recently as a courtesy car and was a nice little car to run about in.

diesels will never like a short trip, they are made for longer journeys, they are useless in short town journeys.
you have a bicycle or a petrol car for that.

Ok I know it's not an auto but try an IQ, it will park almost anywhere, turns on a sixpence & no road tax to boot.

Less than 3k miles a year with a £1.5k budget I would be all over this:
