Flappy rubber bits..!!

Oh flippin Eck...!! I've not even had me new civic a week and it's already staring to fall to bits..!

Driving home from work today cruzin around 70ish and started to get a tappin noise coming from the passenger side... traced it to the roof area and pulled in.. Oh Feck..!!

Has anyone else suffered this problem..?

I drove straight to Honda Dealer and they've ordered a new strip for the screen... Going in next Wednesday for repair.

Worth a check of your own me thinks..?

06 Civic 2.2 i-CTDI sport 8k miles Ultra White Led side lights, blue interior lights and Civi sticker... Fogs on order..

Despite all the hype from ALL the manufacturers
I will never buy a second hand car - unless I am really pushed against a fence - you just don't know how well kept the car has been by the last owner and that any problems have been sorted by the dealer

this would seem to be an example ?

Good to know that it will soon be sorted tho

Mine had exactly the same. On the day I got it!! (9 months old at the time)

Apparently there was a problem with the glue on some early ones. Mine is an early 56 plate.

I preffered the monkey's..

I bloody hope the car's not been re-painted.. I've given it a good check over it seems straight enough.. the car's spotless..

I checked others while at the dealer which weren't even registered along with the service manager and a few seemed to be a bit wobbly round the top screen..
I just hope it's not the start of my Honda Nightmare...

Lovin the car up to nooo...

the 'no child seat' sticker seems very prominent - sure I don't have one of those!

glad it's being sorted with no hassle

Good job you never took it through a car wash.

If that had got caught in the mechanism it would have been like whipping the car.

That's the strip my dealer replaced on mine at it's first service. I never had any problem but they do it automatically. Evidently there have been several roof resprays so it's a standard modification by Honda.

My car has just deveoped a flappy noise as well. However I have traced this back to the far corner of the dashboard on the passenger side and the side airbag cover.

The 2 bits join here slightly at the bottom corner of the windscreen. The air bag cover is slightly loose it sometimes moves and starts to vibrate against the dashboard. Pushed it away and it stops but after a view bumps it comes back.

Would it be OK to put a small piece of felt pad between the dash and airbag cover to stop the noise??? Or could this possibly interfere with airbag deployment?

I would get the dealer to sort it. Last thing you want is the bag going off whilst you are poking around.

Thats what I think I will do - it can wait for the 1st service next year. Its annoying at times but hardly worth the hassle of losing the car for a day for!

Hardly down to the owner that Broders!!

I would say it was a poor job of a replacement put on by the dealers on a recall, and bear in mind that many people on here have been backwards and forwards to the dealers with lots of problems with their brand new cars. Oh an incidently you have more rights when purchasing a second hand car.

No doubt you will give your standard reply of "Me and my three friends with civics dont have any problems"!! Your only friends probably and I bet they are imaginary
