An update on all those following this thread. I had a response to my email from the service manager of the dealership. He has made arrangements for another branch to pick up my car next week and carry out full inspection of the service done . and look at warranty work . said unable to do before as he wants to supervise . will post the outcome

Well worth pursuing & a good result from the garage I hope they compensate you for the **** up.

Just makes you wonder how many Honda dealerships do miss the odd thing out, at the end of the year it would be a fair saving for them. I'm sure they just made a mistake

I changed mine a couple of days ago, and it was literally a 2 min job.

Alot of tiny leaves fell out when I pulled out the filter onto the mat. So I don't know when this was last changed and the filter was near black !!

Would not have known the location of the filter, if it was not for the helpful info from here

As mentioned earlier, remove panel behind glove box, and look towards the centre in the footwell where you'll see a plastic slot cover which you can pull towards you to reveal the filter.

I think the pollen filter is on of the most important things you need to change regularly. It's a matter of your health and i wouldn't risk it.Also it's cheap and easy to change.I changed it and i didn't bother cleaning it because it costs 4 euros here.

There only seem to be a pollen filter available from Honda so it depends on if you want a standard pollen or the better activated carbon filter. See the previous page of this thread for the differences.

Update My civic
went into the dealers head branch for 2 days they did the complete service all over again . They admitted the branch that did the service had failed to replace the pollen and fuel filter and action will be taken . They filled the car with diesel, cleaned it and offered the next service F.O.C I feel they were genuinely concerned so that's me sorted. Only problem now is i will take it back to main branch that is a 60 mile round trip instead of a 14 mile round trip were they messed it up for future services. Also happened to have Honda phone for a survey on the service i had just had so was able to inform then of the problems .

Good result ! - unfortunately, all car makes have some rogue / crap / dishonest Dealers - make sure you report this to Honda

The issue is not dealers bluffing the pollen filter, it's dealers bluffing the diesel fuel filter. This dealer just got super lazy. The dealer will know what stores they are booking out. They will know they are ripping you off. It's likely to be routine to charge over the top for a full service when all they are doing is air filter and an oil change. Prolly with poor quality oil.
