quote to replace lower boot window

just asked for a quote to replace the lower perspex,plastic rear window. imagine my surprise when he showed me the cost!

£62.28 for the seal
£289.00 for labour @£85.00 per hour
£156.38 vat

I can imagine your reaction when you got that quote.
I bet even the dealer was surprised.
That really is silly money.....and would mean that early 8th generation Civics could potentially be written off by a medium rear end shunt.

On the subject of labour rates, is it common now for Honda main dealers to charge over £100/hour?
Seems extortionately high for a mainstream manufacturer, but this is the second one ive heard of recently.

he did say is was a costly job, just not how costly! you would be gutted if it was your pride and joy and was written off because of something like that, i would be.

this dealer are charging £85 per hour, are there dealers charging over £100 per hour, im shocked.

Buy one yourself and get a quote from autoglass to fit it.

Or check your insurance policy for glass cover, which would mean you would only have a glass excess to pay.

If I remember, the rear outer panel and the rear screen need to come out to fit the Perspex window that's prob where most the labour cost comes from.

Maybe its a terrible idea but get it bonded so it doesn't get worse, then get super dark 5% tints?

i didnt think of the insurance thing, only thought that covered the windscreen.

i would do the tint thing but my other 3 rear windows are tinted so only have that small one to look out of!
