Accelerating quickly or braking hard isn't illegal as such. But they can be classed as dangerous driving, which is. In the UK at least.

Correct ?

So what the problem other than you think he was speeding.
Did he cut you up or push you off the road ?

But yeah there are lots of schooboys that drive FN2s apparently.
Time and a place is a concept they dont understand yet.
Everywhere is a racetrack to them.

There's a silver Type S that I see regularly on a dual carriageway on my way home that undertakes, overtakes, well over the limit and in a dangerous manner and is often getting flashed and tooted.

As usual, when at the next roundabout he's made no progress.

Agree, but how you do it could constitute dangerous driving.

From the name and shame thread started by CTDI

"This reminds me.

My car was with a Honda main dealer last year, I knew two techs working there and I know they normally take my car for "a spirit drive" afterwards. I have no issue with this as they obviously are insured etc

Anyway it turns out a member of the public saw them and ended up googling my private plate. This resulted in them finding my account on here via an attachment I added with it in the file name. They then joined the site and sent me nasty messages about "my" driving. It turned out this person lived on the same road as the main dealers.

So I was stuck between a rock and a hard place because I denied it was me and I had to fabricate a story so my friends at the dealership didn't get in trouble.

The moral is there is always an explanation for a something bad, sometimes it's not what it seems at first glance thus this thread might result in misunderstandings and people wrongly being accused of things they are not guilty of"

Good point I guess not everything is as it may first seem.

I bet whoever posted this wouldn't have felt so reasonable if a penalty notice or summons landed on their door mat!

I can assure you the person who passed me wasn’t on their way to an emergency or anything similar, they were grinning like a Cheshire cat and driving like a t**t!

Why is this bothering you so much?? You said the road was straight and clear!!

I'm not saying it's ok to speed but Jesus let it go!!!!

They way your banging on anyone would think he overtook you on a blind corner while talking on his phone nearly wiping out a line of school children. Everyone's driving gets a little spirited at times and in my eyes a straight clear road would be the best place

It doesn’t bother me, it didn’t at the time, I was just driving along enjoying the sun shine. My point was it’s a shame when you see fellow owners / enthusiasts driving like an idiot.

What has wound me up is the attitude to inappropriate driving of some people on this forum. I’m sorry, driving at 40 – 50 mph in a 30 mph zone is wrong regardless of the road layout or conditions.

As someone who works in road safety / highways you have no idea how individual driver behaviour affects all road users.

sound similar to this....

I was walking down the road wearing my fav adidas original hoodie and suddenly this chav cycling on the pavement blazing out dance music and doing manual all the way down the road and passed me.. yup, wearing the same hoodie that i had on!

it was only me on the pavement at the time and it was clear, and normal i don't care with this sort of behavior from a chav wearing whatever brand they normal wear but i feel abit down because he was wearing the same hoodie as me (and i don't want to be painted by the same brush just because i wear the same hoodie.)

Maybe you should buy a honda insight? Or maybe a cr-z??

Your behaviour and constant repetition about bad drivers, is quite shocking. Its ok abusing people who go over the speed limit, but what about those who drive at 20 in a 60????

Plenty of them aswell.

I don't think type r ownership is for you.

Just ny opinion.

Because he was obeying the highway code and the traffic laws ?
or because he expects others to observe them ?

OP might do regular track days for all we know.

I think the problem is people dont recogninse the differnce between speeding and dangerous/wreckless driving.
One does not necessarily equal the other.
No one on here condones dangerous/wreckless driving unless its purely their own neck on the line and noone elses on their land.
Most speed to a greater or lesser degree.
But do speed none the less.

It would be hypocritical of me to point the finger at someone doing 10mph over the limit if I was doing 3mph over the limit
speeding is speeding

Are you lot for real or just trolling? I hope it’s the latter!

What would you have said to a post saying the reverse?

“I was driving down a 30mph on a residential sea front and came up behind another Type R. I decided to drop a gear and fly past doing around 45mph, the road was straight and clear but didn’t realise there was a police car sitting in a side road.

I’ve now been done for speeding, shall I go to court and contest it as the road was clear and I didn’t put anyone in real danger? I personally don’t see the anything wrong with the manoeuvre but the police didn’t agree".

Would you lot seriously say bad luck, I don’t think you did anything wrong or you are a silly idiot, I hope this teaches you a lesson?

I think everybody speeds at certain points be it 3mph or 20. We all get overtaken by cars that are going at a faster speed.
At the end of the day if you choose to speed and you get caught then its your own fault. I dont personally see whats wrong with speeding. I think those who drive slow are infact more dangerous and that more accidents are caused by them who drive slow and dont pay attention. Don't get me wrong you do get those who drive silly.
But what is the point of buying a type r and driving it around normally as the fuel economy doesnt warrant it??

I'm not saying he shouldn't obey the highway code and traffic laws.

But he made his point in the start of the thread and constantly repeats himself, i don't condone speeding or dangerous/ wreckless driving.

If you speed then thats your decision, everybody is aware of being caught and if you think you're invisible then more fool that person.

At the end of the day, people who own type r's don't buy them to sit a garage. I don't speed all the time but i like to hit vtec through a few gears.

Call me an idiot or a dangerous driver, but i know the consequences of getting caught.

I bought a type r to enjoy.

What is wrong with people, a residential 30mph street is not the place to use the full potential of our cars. I can’t believe people think I shouldn’t have a Type R because that’s how I feel.

I’m on my 3rd (what you would call) fast car and loved driving them but I use their potential in an appropriate location. I didn’t realise that was such an alien concept to some people.

As normal these threads take on a mind of their own and end up all over the place.
Your point was a valid one, but I guess saying it did not bother you then making fuss but then saying it was only because it was a Civic gives the wrong impression.
If people want to speed and accept the consequences then it is up to them, doesn't make it right though, same way some people drink too much which some people frown.
What you consider "appropriate" others might not and vice versa I guess.

Generally the consequences of drinking too much only affect you. However most 30 zones are there for a reason. There is often a massively increased chance of hurting someone else if you're doing 40 or 50.

Ok I barely post but do read the threads and have always had a lot of respect for Hondas. Had an S2000 a while back among others. This thread has highlighted how many inconsiderate fools there are driving Type Rs I don't think Cliosport is this bad

I've been stupid in my time- 160mph in a 70 for one. There are often times when 40/50/60 limits are wrong and should be higher/lower and a good driver knows when this is the case. I've only come across a couple of roads where I feel a 30 really isn't justified. If people don't think that's the case, then they aren't very observant

Oh and I'm no doddering old person in a diesel. I enjoy my driving on track in a 300bhp/tonne kit car.
