The 9g will be updated in approx 3 years time and I bet in 5-6 years time people will be saying how good the 9g is compared to the 10g lol

The Civic is not just a CTR, it's a range of cars for a range of demographics... Do the comparison if and when the 3dr performance models come out.

I too have had two 8g's since 2006 and I can honestly say the 9g is worlds apart from the 8g in terms of ride, build quality/materials and refinement. The looks are subjective and personal taste.. I personally think it's better (and I loved the look of my 8g 2009 EX-GT)

It's funny reading these post though, shows a lot of insecurity IMO
I can assure you that my comparisons are fair.
my personal ownership is:
2007 Type S
2010 Type R GT

Yes both three door but but parents have and i am insured to drive

2006 5D Sport

So i am comparing the 9g to three different 8G civics. i did say at the start people will agree and people will disagree and that is fine. i wouldnt argue if others prefer the 9g but I am making a fair comparison

So, just for clarity, your comparisons are based upon a top of the range sports/performance model, a 'junior' sports model and a mid range 1.8 or 2.2 140 bhp mid range model - all vs the new 1.4 SE 'Pov spec' Civic.???

Again, i am no where at all stating any comparison about performance or even ride/handling (which by the way i find removes the driver from any feeling of the road)

I have only compared

Shape
Design
materials used
interior layout

these are all things which would be pretty standard across the board.

I'm currently rocking a Jazz. 1.2 Stop/Start. Back ache from trying not to slide out of the seat and arm ache from the nigh on 3 complete turns of the wheel lock to lock.

I hate it.

Like you say though, good brakes. Better initial bite than the Stoptechs!

They tried to give me a Jazz, but i put my foot down as there was no way i was going to accept handing in a CTR then taking away a Jazz, not to mention im 6' 3" so i had a pretty good argument for getting the civic

I am going to have the same civic for 3 days in october while my CTR is in getting the roof seal problem sorted out (the one where the front seal is too tight)

I know i hate the 9G but again as you say, at least its not a jazz lol

could be worse, when i had warrenty work done to my FK2 the dealer gave me a hyundai getz and it wasn't the new ones but an old one that had a 3 speed auto with a overdrive gear so i get 3500 rpm roar when going 100km/h down the freeway.

I quite agree imo the 7th gen was a better car both in looks and quality, wish I still had mine.

I mean i cant talk about performance as obviously i went from a CTR to a 1.4 so i cant comment on that but the styling, look and feel is bloody terrible.

With the 8g, Honda did a good job at lowering the average driver age of the vehicle, I am 24 now and was 20 when i first bought my first 8G civic. Alot of my friends love the 8g but the 9g just looks like it is designed for country strolling pensioners going for a picnic.

The inside feels realy cheap i think, from big things such as the main plastics used and the seat/carpet materials down to the small things such as the window buttons and indicator/window wiper levers.
Also the hand break is in the perfect place for a kid to pull it on.

I hated the outside from the start and now I can confirm i hate the inside.

I know its just my opinion and a lot of people on here will agree and disagree but from one civic owner, I am very unhappy with the new one.

I hope a lot is changed for the new CTR
The 9G Civic might be horrible but it beats a Jazz

I doubt we'll ever find out, but I would be interested to know what those who aren't going to get a 9G end up with ?

I've looked around and the rest have to be topped up at great expense to get half the extras of a higher end Civic.

I've previously specced up a comparable V40 and a Golf to match a Civic and had to stop at £27k as it was getting ridiculous.
