Honda should slam them for having bad customer service.

Honda say they want to be the biggest, you cant be the biggest by pumping out cheaper cars, you do it with good customer service, cheaper cars helps a little but people are willing to pay more if they get good service.
It was a nissan main dealer.

Still haven't heard anything back from Evans halshaw, but the finance company are fighting my corner and have canceled my direct debit so I don't have to pay for the car anymore, and will be refunded anything I have paid once they have sorted it out

+1 this is the whloe reason I drive 15 miles fron home to have my car serviced/mot as the garage 3 miles away doesnt seem to give two s**ts about anything! I will pay more when a garage shows it cares with good customer service,

Got a little update on whats happening for those interested. The finance company have passed my details onto a 3rd party that will be used as a point of contact between me, the finance company and Evans halshaw. After a 20 min call with the 3rd party both me and the finance company have agreed the best course of action would be to have the car returned and all money's owed refunded to me, the bloke also told me I stand a good case for rejection of the car because of the list of faults with the car and the fact it blew up a day after picking it up after its "repaire". During the call I was told Evans halshaw don't usually drag there feet when it comes to complaints such as this as they don't want there reputation tarnished (bit late for that really). So all is looking good so far. If they don't accept the rejection, the finance company have said they will go down the legal route on the grounds of selling a dangerouse vehicle.

Hi mate,

Sorry to read all of this and i'm really glad your girlfriend wasn't harmed during the cars breakdown...

When i was 18 i went ot Evans Halshaw to buy a car... they told me it was fine etc and being nieve their salesman tricked me into a 5 year finance agreement in which i was paying more APR than i had to. Absolutely disgraceful. It was my own fault but i was young and nieve and just wanted my first car to myself.

I wouldn't ever use them again... also the car had a bundle of problems which they didn't help with at all.

I would honestly say to grab an ep3... bullet proof and reliable and even though it's winter i'd rather have a reliable ep3 than any other car.

Cheers for the comment, hopefully it's dealt with quickly and efficiently. Got my eye on a few cars, going to keep it cheap tho for the winter and get something better in the spring. A friend of mine is selling a really clean Almera (had one previously) for 500 so will probably buy that then get a type r next year.

Soooo another update. Dealership are standing by the car and have offered me a fair few options from a replacement car of the same value to repairing the car, but will not accept the car back and have basically said they will take it to court if needs be. So after speaking with my solicitor we have came up for an offer to them. They accept the cr as a return as long as I buy another car from them (pending inspection of course) the solicitor involved seems to think this is a fair compromise as they still get to sell a car. And I get to choose something I want rather then something of the same value that I may not be satisfied with. So after looking at the available cars they have the only thing that has caught my eye is a 05 2.0 type s.
This: Used Honda Civic Hatchback 2.0 I-Vtec Type S 5Dr [Vsa+17 In Alloy] from Evans Halshaw

But. My girlfriend will be paying for half the car, as she was with the car in question and. She is doing lessons she will soon be driving the new car and she has her heart set on a micra. So taking this into account i have come up with this. A micra 160sr. Used Nissan Micra Hatchback 1.6 160Sr 5Dr from Evans Halshaw

Has anyone ver drove, owned etc any of the 2 above vehicles and any views on either of them?

If the only fault with the Civic was the gearbox problem why not except a repair (as long as it is done at a Honda dealer) and say £500 compensation for all your trouble?

I've owned a pre-facelift type s (the one in question is a face lift version with cruise control, traction control, 16 inch wheels and the final drive lowered a little to make the car more responsive in top gear. The cars are extremely smooth, but into vtec they take off big time. I'd definitley take a look at that car.

Result! Finally made some real progress. Evans halshaw have gave in to my demands. Not the refund I initially wanted but happy none the less. After much discussion with my other half on vehicles we should get, we have decided I shouldn't get another civic for a few reasons: 1. Because if I get anything other than a type r I wont be happy, but insurance costs and the like are an issue, and with a child on the way 5 doors is a must. 2. Evans halshaw not having any in stock that I like. 3. She didn't find the civic particularly comfortable. So after driving audi's bmw's and a few more, I have settled on a Citroen c5. Ride comfort equipment and looks (my opinion) are much better then the equivalent German cars. So a hell of a lot of cr for the money... So a bit of a goodbye really, but I will stick around as this is such a nice and active forum (not many about these days)

My C3 Picasso and Peugeot 308 were both a lot more reliable than my Civic, and they didn't rattle!!!

It's a Peugeot love in!

My love affair with French cars was over a long time ago, and ended with a very turbulent relationship with a low-mile 3 year old 206 with a gigantic sunroof.

The final straw was the gear linkage breaking while driving into town. The Peugeot garage seemed very relaxed about it, after being asked 'how could this happen?', they said 'yeah, a lot of that is made out of plastic'...

My last car was a derv 307 which ran faultlessly to 150,000 miles, and didn't let me down (until it broke down one day...)

Since I moved to the Civic I've had the windscreen washer jets not working, wiper motor needs replaced, flat battery after 5 days of not driving it, which blew the heater resistor...still, I love seeing the Civic out of the window

Funny - I had that happen to me in a saxo. Just overtook a car and then couldn't get out of second. The AA man used a couple of cable ties to hold it together until I go home.
