recommend me a small car for the sharp knife please

Probably not the section for this ,but here goes...

Mrs cowboyjon needs a new wagon now that her 320d e46 is being put out to stud. We liked the car ,was nice to drive and nippy enough being that it was the 150hp model. She's now thinking along the lines of a smaller car.

She does 100 miles round trip commute and is looking for something no more than 5 years old and less than 50k miles.

We've had 3 diesels in a row and now maybe thinking about small economic petrol.

She fancies a Suzuki swift but I'm not sure the mpg will come close to the 50mpg we got from the bmw when it was healthy.

Thanks in advance you handsome devils.

The sport will get 42ish on extended runs 34 round town. The derv will be very economical. Plus the swift is a true womans car and only women own them..... They certainly arent owned by giant freak type men

Would the diesel hold a remap ok?

Diesel would be the answer if it weren't so slow.

Bought a 59 plate Mitsubishi Colt for my old man. Has to be said it drives really well. Best thing is to get her out on a few test drives. You can guarantee she will test drive 10 cars and end up going back to the first one. Well that's what my missus does when she goes shopping. Lol

I think so it depends on how much of one the engine will be derived from someone else so some research into the engine should tell you

What about a Jazz ? - economical 1.4 Petrol engine - and about the same space inside as the BMW ! ...

Then, drop in one of the Turbo kits, that you can get from the USA ...

Economy or 'Grunt', as needed ...

Thanks guys please keep them coming.

Don't fancy a jazz, look crap and bad reviews everywhere for them.

I should have said the budget is £5000.

I do like the swift, in no small part thanks to Costels influence since I joined this forum. May end up going down the diesel route again.

Costel can you recommend me a swift forum I can glean some info from? Tried google but not too inspired from the sites It showed

What about an EK civic.

Smaller, lighter, no rear torsion beam.

Mini, high 40 mpg, nippy and handles well, budget may not stretch to a cooper but mini 1 has 90hp and should be cheaper, also consider a Civic sport 1.6 ep2, i had one, great car and good mpg, being a honda engine higher milage and last ones 55 reg not a prob
