Sounds like a jealousy thing to me though. Someone wanting to steal something to sell would surely rob a car with a big bling CD player or sat nav in it as they would be worth more than a set of mats. And surely a Type R owner would be in a better position in life than to rob other Type R owners.

Hope you catch the scum.
Interestingly this happened to me a few years ago, Had my car broken into for a pioneer head unit, 2 x Infinity Amps, 2 X infinity 6*9s and 2X 12" infinity Subs.

Despite all of that being stolen the worst thing of the lot was the feeling that my car had been invaded and that some little chav had invaded my property. It almost makes the car feel like its not yours anymore.

So i guess the point is the OP is very lucky that it was just matts but at the same time the feeling of invasion is just awful.

Bloody ***** out there guys.

Soon as my Mugen stuff went on I had too much interest so off I went to maplins got their cctv set up nightvision 500gb hard drive and, I also have my window wide open every night which is worth it as I heard a car stop at 3 in the morning to have a good nose luckily they were just looking at the car.
So get cctv I paid around 130 for the setup at maplins and at night when I'm watching tv and I hear talking outside all i do is press AV and I can see my car and what's going on, would highly recommend one

Glad you mentioned CCTV actually, since my incident the other evening i have had to adjust the camera to now cover the blind spot.

Also just received a security light with wireless chime which is now covering the cars.

Seems a good bit of kit as you can add multiple lights, chimes, wireless sensors etc.

Would still hate to think some chav has been messing though

That's a very good point, which me and my housemates have been discussing. It wasn't alarming when we found it and no one heard anything on the street. 2 possibilities:

Either it did go off and its so quiet no one heard it. I have tested since and it reacts to pressure changes ok (banging on the temp plastic cover on the window could set it off). When I tested it outside my house, my housemates inside didnt hear it.

Or they somehow disabled it. The doors had been unlocked when I got to it, presumably by moving the tab on the door. It was definitely locked because I remember locking it and if it was open why did they smash the windows?

Either way it looks like I'll be making some enquiries at Clifford. Know any other good aftermarket alarms?

can you dead lock a civic, buy pressing on the key fob twice? Not that this would help you. This is just bl**dy mean.

You can only do that on civics that have the superlock feature.
