My mate has a diesel fiat punto with a hybrid turbo on it... that would beat a standard type-r ;D

Diesel ftw!

After just selling my 280 bhp megane sport and jumping into the 2.2 I think it's great, not been back to fill up now for over two weeks and still get lots of fun out the car. Bloke across road from me has a type r and went on a few track days with us, the type r unless sorted is not quick round corners, the 2.0 clios were going passed it on the corners and in a straight line he could not keep up with the meg but the type r is a good looking car never the less, just not the best in its class but a very good car, that's why I've now got a oil burning civic, because it was prob the best value for money at the time of purchase. Hope I've not said anything I shouldn't, as for v's I know a diesel motor with just under 1600bhp it's the Jcb diesel max world record holder reaching 350 mph.. Would that beat a corsa.

Brilliant where do I sign up

When will you 2.2 lot get it - ctr owners like corners it's not all about going fast in a straight line. A performance car has to do both well. Ergo - a 2.2 is not a performance car, remapped or otherwise.
I have a feeling somebody's wife ran off with a diesel driver. How immature and based on nothing but "what you reckon" rather than any hard facts. Rather funny to read.

I also say to any Type R owners slating 2.2 owners for modifying their car to look like a Type R.. I hope you don't have any Mugen branding or modifications, else that egg is gonna look pretty silly slap, bang on your face.

But then if we compared the Type R to others in its category, it doesn't seem to fair too well. I'm not saying it's a bad car, far from it, I'm just perplexed at some people's brick wall approach to diesels. Is our 500 mile tank range making you a little envious?

At the end of the day, we're all lovers of motoring and the joys that come with it, why can't we all appreciate each others cars for what they are? Especially if we haven't experienced it first hand.

As for making them look like Type R's, some of us don't feel Honda quite went as far as they could have with the Type S but do 20k miles a year, why not doing something about it? That's why we all modify right? If all our cars were perfect out of the box, it'd be a pretty boring forum.

As for pushing the boundaries like Relic,Costel etc, I'm sure they appreciate others attempts without getting high and mighty about it.

I don't slate any cars but now you mention it, yes I'd like to get 500 miles out of a tank. I do short journeys though so I'd kill a diesel pretty fast.

Some odd you guys are out of order. I mean to slate the 2.2 on this forum
Remember £200 puts the 2.2 in type r territory for straight line speed and in gear it will make mince meat out of it.
£1000s need to be spent on the r to get an extra 50BHP.
The 2.2 will not beat the r around the corners and is not a performance car so Derv drivers wake up.
What the 2.2 is designed for is motorway cruising and for this its an awesome car.
Funny thing is the people slating the 2.2 are the same people who voted against the Deisel section

Also can I just point out no 2.2 driver ever said it was a performance car, that was another thing one of the Type R drivers just wildly claimed when they didn't have anything else to say on the matter...

These threads never cease to amaze & get very boring !! They pop up every few months & all hell breaks loose & get a bit personal after the initial bit banter !

What started out with a title a 2.2 v vxr turned into a 2.2 into a type r debate !! Get a grip & grow up !! We all here for one thing the love of our cars & to pick each overs brains if anything goes wrong !

Bye the way my car will kick a vxr 2.2 & type r's ass ( except for a few ) so there na na na na see a little bit fun

But then you'd get taken by Mr Exec in his BMW or Mercedes.. Always going to be someone faster. All I want is for everyone to appreciate everyone else's cars. But I forgot, we're all human.
