just to let all you members know if you do not have a spare wheel and your unfortunately unlucky to get a puncture , recovery companies now refuse to come out to you for a puncture, read your small print, no repair with the useless gunk your stranded........

not the case with the AA - from their general exclusions

d. Failure to carry a serviceable spare
Any additional charges resulting from Your failure to carry a legal and serviceable spare wheel or tyre, except where this is not provided as manufacturers’ standard equipment. The AA will endeavour to arrange on your behalf, but will not pay for, assistance from a third party;

As a spare wheel is not standard on the Civic 8th Gen plus then you are covered

Just to clarify, because this concerns me a bit, the AA in the above post appear to cover you for any additional costs as long as the car was originally sold with no spare wheel.

So if I have a blowout (on the car ) or something that is unrepairable with the tire weld stuff the AA will cover the additional costs, ie. the costs of towing home or to a local garage?

Having used the glue for my road bike it's an absolute nightmare so when I bought my Civic the first thing I did was look to get a spare fitted.
A Honda dealership supplied and fitted a space saving wheel into my Civic for £114 including VAT and I got the net and bag with it.
Honda even collected my car from my workplace and returned it with the wheel fitted.

im with the AA and i spoke to a guy from there and he said that he does go out espically for civics as they do not come with a spare wheel which should void the above as it says fail to carry as our cars are fitted with that tyre repair spray.
I get my breakdown throught Halifax bank and have high cover maybe i pay the extra like robmx said

When I had the AA out once to my civic the AA guy told me to never put the gunk into the tyre and to always call them out as the tyre will be ruined when they will toe me to a place to get it repaired or they said they would put a screw in the hole and pump it up and follow me to a repair place

indeed, i wouldn be to cean on using it myself as i would have AA on the phone within minutes haha. My mises has a ka convertable and had to be towed by them as her thermostat went, quite funny as she only had the car a week so it went straight back to the garage. Only problem with AA is that if you know the problem and it could be staring them in the face they have to go through a check process first

True. The gunk absolutely ruins your tyre and makes it unserviceable, whereas with a straight puncture you could always repair. Just a money making scheme!!

I had the spare wheel fitted on both my Civic's, fortunately have yet to use them.

Apparently the average number of punctures a driver can expect is one every five years.

this is rubbish - the gunk can be cleaned out - if you can find a tyre repair place to do it

Thanks to that alcoholic Anne Robinson and her cronies on Watchdog, everyone now thinks that the devil resides in that bottle of gunk!

Its mainly down to the fact that the cretins employed by Kwik Fit and the like cant be bothered to try and clear the stuff out and as some of you would put it are "stealers" and would prefer to tell you that you need 3 new tyres, brake pads and a new exhaust instead of cleaing the tyre and and plugging the puncture.

I don't have a spare nor any breakdown cover. I drive 15miles a day.

I'm living on the edge.

Edit: I can't even afford winter tyres.

Maths is all a lie... I've had 2 punctures in the past 4 months... separate tyres and unfortunately, I found out the hard way about the gunk...

You should always read the small print in any contractual documentation to know what you will get screwed for... at least you can be prepared for it.
