Road Tax

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone can help me. I've got a 1.8 EX i-Shift (56 plate) and I paid £160 Road Fund Licence. Have I paid the correct amount? I'm sure the dealer only paid £100 when he registered the car in September 2006.

Can you enlighten...?

Sounds wrong to me! Go to vehicle enquiry here and enter your registration number and make:-

DVLA Online Vehicle Licensing | Home

I think it should be £115 for a pre March -07 car or £140 for the later software introduced in March -07. There is no £160 band?

your query made me look at the V5 for our civic

Now as far as i am aware our civic has the march 07 (onwards)version
of i-shift which increased its VED rating slightly however the V5 still shows it as 149 gms as per the 2006 brochure ( seems strange)

I was sure the Co2 emissions have gone up for the cars with the newer version of i-shift (and presume the same thing will happen when the 06/56 models have their modifacation done)

and when I looked at this site as directed from the DVLA VCAcarfueldata.org.uk - VED Calculator

It showed the Co2 to be 158gms Co2 for manual and i-shift cars with a tax of £140 - the EX was 2 gms more at 160gms Co2 but still £140

as kamshaft so helpfully pointed out the diesels are £115 per year
pumping out 135gms Co2

So to answer your question I would say you have been charged £20 to much - might be worth checking with Honda what your cars C02 emissions currently are and then speak to the DVLA to get back any monies you are due

Update!

Well, well, well! Here's an update of the situation.

Rang up the DVLA and told them my details were incorrect and he read some notes on his PC and admitted that the 1.8i EX I-shift should be 143g/km and not 153g/km as stated in my Logbook.

I now have to ring up Honda and ask them to write to me on headed paper confirming the CO2 emissions are correct at 143g/km. I then have to fax that letter over along with a copy of my tax disc to the DVLA who will issue me with a £45 refund, because I paid £160 for 12 months!

Just thought I'd share that with you all.

My March 07 i-shift is rated at the DVLA at 160g emissions and £140 a year to tax.

Not wishing to put a dampner on things but It will probably get even more confusing JP when Honda implement the upgrade to the 06 model i-shifts ( unless they managed to do it without increasing the Co2 emissions your tax band will change again)

which is correct for the 07 i-shift models but the Government have increased the tax by £15.00 so when you renew your tax disc it will be
£140 unless there are anymore raises in the meantime

Hi folks,
My new 1.8 ES i-shift, first registered 27/9/07, paid £140 Vehicle Excise Duty. But remember, Honda UK, I am told, is working to reduce emissions..........
